This was our second visit to McMillans, the first being in February 2018. The coffee was really tasty in pleasant surroundings, with attentive, interesting owners who have many years experience in the catering business and it is evident. You are made to feel relaxed in a good atmosphere with friendly congenial hosts, who are a credit to Budleigh Salterton. It is lovely to find a likeable host who spends time discussing his vast experience in the catering industry, which we found very interesting and enlightening. We will definitely revisit and wish the owners good luck

Fish cafe serving local fish as well as award-winning fish and chips. Also has non- fish and veterinarian options and is licences. Along side the restaurant is a busy fish and chip take-away
I ordered fish and chips for my family and took them to the beach to eat . After opening them and starting to eat I found to my horror 5 black hairs in my food . Absolutely disgusting and to be honest the place is an absolute rip off . Itâs worth driving to krispies in exmouth if you would like decent fish and chips . Environmental health will be getting a phone callThis is clearly unacceptable, but we are struggling to work out the provenance of the black hairs since there was no-one with black hair on duty all that week. We emailed you direct to ask for some further detail so we could get to the bottom of the problem but have had no response. Naturally we are reviewing our relevant procedures. We feel it is a pity that you did not come to us direct at the time but chose to air your complaint on Trip Advisor

Friendly, family-run café situated right next to the sea in beautiful Budleigh Salterton. Serving a range of delicious sandwiches, light meals, coffee, cakes and ice cream. Fresh Budleigh Salterton caught crab is our speciality. All food is cooked to orde
We bought coffee, tea, cakes and soft drinks and sat at a table on the seafront. Our bill was £16 . There were several tables free. We sat for no more than 30 minutes and our tray was cleared away before one of our group had finished her drink. Suddenly from the depths of this cafe out MARCHED a lady who asked if we were eating lunch and when we said we wouldnât be, she asked us âto leave or move to a table in the shade!!â Always a mistake to give the wrong person a bit of power and probably better to run a âfast foodâ establishment if you want your paying customers gone within half an hour! Never again...and as an extra note of caution ..their coffee is horrible too!

What a good idea? A coffee and clothes shop combined. Pleasant surroundings and excellent manager/owner. Budleigh Salterton is awash with coffee shops and I would place this establishment second out of about fourteen. The coffee was good, but I do wish that they wouldn't use butter cream on their cakes.

Unique Cosy Tea Room providing a variety of Tea's and Coffee's, Hot and Cold food, Cream Teas and Selection of Cakes, Gluten Free options available, all served in the traditional manner on Royal Albert bone china tableware. Friendly table service with a w
visited with my partner for a quick cuppa to dodge the rain, the tea was dishwater and the service just as lousy, then made the mistake of trying to give this place another try a few weeks later, we had two toddlers with us , we weren't allowed in !!! even though there was loads of space. Was promptly told kids not allowed in - we stood there in disbelief. If you're looking for a bland rude experience go here if you're looking for a real cuppa in pleasant friendly surroundings that isn't over priced I suggest going elsewhere. Never again crappy teapot.

Granny Gothards Ice Cream & Desserts serves the best quality handmade ice cream, sorbets, and frozen yogurts. We serve freshly made hot Belgian Waffles smothered in sauce with a scoop of award winning Granny Gothards ice cream. Or try one of our flavours
Both my wife and I had a excellent cream tea at this establishment the English breakfast tea was of a good quality, although we were given a wide selection of others to choose from. The tea was loose leaf in a pot, accompanied with small school milk bottle size of milk making it feel a little more authentic and well thought out. There were two average size scones per person, with individual disposable pots of jam and cream, more than enough, with plenty to spare, both of which were of a good quality and very tasty indeed. If this was my first cream tea Iâd ever had, I would be well impressed with the standard of fare, we both remarked to each other that it was the best we had, as we are both in our sixties weâve had plenty over the years to compare it too.The staff were very pleasant, welcoming and helpful, I wouldnât hesitate in going back here when next in Devon.Thank you so much for you lovely review, hopefully see you again soon

Had high hopes for this place- it looks the part and claims an âartisan bakeryâ on site so what better place to have a cream tea?! Well it was passable - but the scone was very dry and had been out too long and I find it hard to believe an artisan baker could have served up such a thing. Jam, cream and tea weâre all present but presented rather poorly (eg the teapot had the knob in lid missing). Tables outside but grubby round legs and the shades places pointlessly over the tables they were in shade leaving other tables in full sun. They were out of oat milk and only had soya as a non dairy alternative - surprising since the attached shop sells almond milk! Overall not a disaster but definitely a missed opportunity. Strongly suspect complacency a factor due to being the only cream tea in town.Thank you for your review , we are disappointed to read you felt the Mill did not reach your expectations. Our scones are baked daily using the finest local ingredients, organic flour and are very popular, I have ensure the one tea pot with the lid knob missing has been removed from service so can only apologise for this oversight. Our shades outside under the trees are actually there to stop leaves but mainly conkers falling onto the tables beneath, some visitors like the shade , others full sun , so we try to ensure there is somewhere for everyone. We are sorry we were out of oat milk but pleased the alternative non dairy product was available, the front of house team do work very hard to ensure all options are available but as the shop had almond milk come in that day had not, at the time of serving you, had the opportunity to walk to the farm shop and check for another alternative.Kind RegardsChris and Carol Wright

Award winning Tea Shop, serving home cooked breakfast, lunches and Afternoon Teas. Our speciality is our Vintage High Tea presented on tiered cake stands and served on beautiful bone china a real treat for any occasion.
Can you resist a name like this? In the High Street, near the car park, perfectly situated. It was busy when we called in for lunch, but service was excellent â including our freshly-prepared crab sandwiches. T &TT pride themselves on sourcing food locally. The crabs had come from Dave â on the beach just a few hundred yards away!
