A lovely little cafe. The lunch menu was great and priced well. They serve decaf tea which is always a big plus for a breastfeeding mama. My only recommendation would be that it would be great to see a changing mat provided in the toilets (a high chair is provided on request). thank you for your great feedback we love to please everyone were will look into a changing station very shortly

the Cafe is in the Bowes Museum
We have eaten here before but today just came for hot drinks. The mocha I had was a bit watery and neither coffee nor chocolate so a little disappointing. The americano was better but extremely strong!HiThanks for the review.Sorry, your drinks were not to your preference, we would have changed them for you if we had known.Any problems we are here to rectify as we want our customers to leave happy.Kind regardsAndrew and The Cafe Bowes team

Small bistro offering freshly cooked food, wines beers gins, steak night every Friday evening 6pm till 9pm, Saturday evening 6pm till 9pm. Traditional Sunday lunch served 12 till 4pm every Sunday.
The staff were very gracious about me bringing my dog into the restaurant. Interesting lunch menu, I had a bacon and cranberry twist on the classic Croque Monsieur with nicely cooked fries. Tasty coffee, milk alternatives available. Excellent service. Highly recommend this Bistro and I look forward to trying it for dinner over a weekend.

A strange entrance for this restaurant i.e. seemingly an antique centre - but from entering the Stables it was so welcoming! The staff couldn't do enough to help. Warm and friendly. The food was delicious - we were looking for a breakfast as our hotel did not serve breakfast and we found the best! Can't think of any criticism for these good folk - keep up the good work! Thank you!!!

Hubby and his running partner ran 8+ miles from Egglestone Abbey (along River Tees) on a very wet Sunday morning. Restaurant quite quiet 12.30 till 1 then a few tables booked later. Busy when we left at 2pm. Enjoyed jacket potatoes with tuna mayonnaise or bacon, Brie and cranberry and creamy garlic mushrooms with yummy buttered granary bread with lots of tea and a latte £25. Polite staff, very clean premises including toilets. Lots of outdoor space and seating, but no one tempted to use it today!

Fab tea shop serving tea & scones/cakes all the way through to full meals
We stopped here for breakfast en route from the Lake District to our home in Cambridge. The coffee was great and the food brilliant; I had eggy bread with mushrooms and bacon, my husband had eggs benedict and our friend a cooked breakfast. Everything was great - very generous portions and well cooked. The husband is pernickity about his eggs and he loved them. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Lots of information to be had about local attractions. Highly recommended!

On entering this place an insect & spiders web infested glass roof was most welcoming especially when they seated us directly underneath. This obviously not been cleaned all year. The tables were sticky and not cleansed between sitters , the floor was covered in crumbs and under the soft furnishings there was food debris that was not from that days service. Permanently surrounded by uncleared tables. The overall observation was very grubby and needs a very intense deep clean. They prided on a wood Pizza oven! Our Pizza was raw, not just under cooked but clap raw. How could anyone cooking/ serving not notice? Just a very badly managed operation. One is always amazed that managers do not visit , observe and come back and implement the best idea's of the competition. Its easy. A silent person took our money as if not bothered if it was satisfactory or not. Then going into the food hall!! ................ untreated sterling board on top of used old tyres were used to shelve food. That was it for us. In stead of featuring sheep on the roof maybe just clean the place and spend a day staff training.

We have recently opened our takeaway and cafe in the heart of the lovely market town, Barnard Castle. We've always found that the traditional way of cooking fish and chips, is by far the best. We cook in double refined best beef dripping and our chips are
We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. We are elderly and love the Special which is a smaller portion of fish and chips, bread and butter, mushy peas followed by ice cream and a pot of tea all for £6.50 each at the time of writing this. All the staff are very pleasant and the Service is so quick. The cafe is small but we have always managed to get a table for 2.Thank you so much for taking the time to write your lovely review!Itâs brilliant to hear you have enjoyed your visits to Katieâs and in particular our very popular cafe special! I will pass on your comments to all of the team, Iâm sure theyâll be so pleased to hear them!We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!
