After seeing that the cafe had been sold to a new owner and now had eftpos, my husband and I thought we would go for breakfast. We were greated by a friendly young lady and given menus, before ordering a pizza for my husband and eggs for myself with 2 coffees, one ânot too hotâ. No mention of wait time was given. After 30 minutes our coffees came, both extremely hot. Okay. They tasted fine and looked nice but were not what was ordered. A further 20 minutes goes by and my husbandâs pizza arrives. Burnt on one side but otherwise very nice. I wait and wait before seeing a group of meals come out of the kitchen and go to serveral tables who ordered after us. My husband asked a waitstaff person if my meal had been forgotten and was told âno, itâs comingâ before the staff member disappeared out the back. At this point, itâs been an hour since we ordered so I say to the same staff member we donât have time to wait, please cancel my eggs, I donât want them anymore. Ten minutes later and my husband has finished eating, we are gathering up our things to go and my eggs arrive. I say to the staff member I donât want them, Iâve already cancelled the order and she takes them out the back. We go to pay, only to be told that we must pay for the eggs because I sent them back after they had gotten to the table? We insist we are not paying for them and the crazy lady in the kitchen starts yelling and SWEARING at us (the kitchen is directly behind the till and has a large openning so you can see into from anywhere in the cafe). âF-ck you, canât you see Iâm the only person in here; b-tech, how dare you send food back.â What the heck?Turns out the waiter I told to cancel my order hadnât bothered to tell the kitchen, and itâs all my fault they were short staffed so it took so long? Absolutely not appropriate! Itâs never a customers fault that a business is short staffed, that they waited patiently for an hour for a meal to arrive, that a cook missed an order or that the staff do not do their jobs (let customers know when there is an extended wait for a meal, let the kitchen know when a meal is cancelled). Disgraceful. Iâve never been yelled at or sworn at in a business before and would never treat a customer the way I was treated today.Wonât be back.Do not recommend.

This historic building on the University of New England campus, used to be heading into disrepair. However it has been revamped, and it is soo good that it is being used well again. We went for lunch, and it was really well done. Service was prompt and courteous. I had a goat cheese, tomato tart with a nicoise salad, and it was delicious. Others tried the special pot pies...today's were steak and mushroom...and they were enjoyed as well. The place was packed with students and profs...so it is a great place for all to visit and enjoy some conversation.

A group of friends recently enjoyed a leisurely Sunday lunch by the creek in the garden at the Blue Wren. The perfect weather and congenial company contributed to a most agreeable occasion but the ambiance of the setting and the tasty food improved it even more. However a $4 surcharge to view the garden is applied to everyone for every visit and acts as a deterrent to locals who would otherwise visit regularly just for a cup of coffee.

We were up in Armidale today and decided to have lunch, before we headed home. I had a steak burger which was fillet steak, tomato, caramelised onion, bacon, pineapple and lettuce, with chips. The steak was very tender and everything else was very nice. Hubby had whiting fillets with chips and his was lovely too.

Little Coco's is a catering business, however one can also find delicious coffee and homemade snacks and take home meals from our service area.
This is a mixed review because for me breakfast is about the perfect pairing of food and coffee. I've given this visit 3/5; the food was easily a 4 but the coffee was a 2.Here's my reasons:The positive: I had the corn fritters with the salsa and chili jam and they were really very good. It was very tasty and light enough that I left fully satisfied but not bloated. Perfect amount. To get the 5/5 they could have considered presentation. It did feel more like a plate of hors dâoeuvres. It might seem harsh but for me food is sensory: taste, smell and sight. The negative: I really don't enjoy modern roasts that are unbalanced in favor of the light fruitiness of a green coffee bean. I don't like the absence of mouth-feel and the green taste makes milk seem sour. And this was a tragic example of this. I don't know if they have more than one roast option but if they did they didn't say and I wished they did. Service was great.Price was acceptable.

After feeling like Iâd stepped back into the Stone Age when the trendy hipsters at goldfish bowl were too good to serve gluten free toast and no other Armidale cafes seemed to offer it, I stumbled across this lovely little GF paradise on the mall. Lots of GF options, simple and good food, coffee was great and the staff are lovely. Only very slight minus was a smaller serving then usual for eggs bennie but frankly I was so grateful to be able to eat that it really wasnât an issue. Thank you so much CAFFIENDS, you saved my morning and made the rest of my trip home so much better. Will definitely return when I come back through!

French Patisserie and cafe
This is one of the only places open on a Sunday in Armidale if you're in need of a good coffee. Consequently it gets very busy. It is a lovely spot to spend some time having brunch, morning or afternoon tea. The coffee is good, the service excellent and the pastries divine. I am partial to their crepes as well.

We recently had dinner at Bistro on Cinders, it was a Saturday night and only one other table was reserved. We rang to specifically ask if they had a children's menu and we were told yes they did. On arrival they did not have a children's menu and they found it very difficult to even prepare some hot chips for a hungry toddler. Service was atrocious after being served our first drinks we were never asked if we would like another and we had to wait over an hour and a half for our meals. The food was only average, crispy skinned duck was not at all crispy. When I went to settle the bill I voiced my complaints with waitress and then the chefs and they were completely dismissive of any issues I had, very rude. We will not be returning to Bistro on Cinders and would not recommend.

Pizzas only available Fridays. Breakfast and lunch daily (except Sunday)
This is a bustling cafe with a lovely wood burning pizza oven which warms the place up. It has indoor and outdoor seating but not the most comfortable chairs and tables, not a place to while away the hours, more designed for a quick lunch or breakfast. Food is tasty and tastes homemade and there is a large pizza selection. More on the pricey side as soup will set you back around $17 and a pizza starts at $20. It can get very noisy when full.
