Things to do in Alton
We've been here a few times when shopping there.A limited food menu, basically soup, bacon or veggie-sausage sandwich, scambled eggs and perhaps somewhat bizarrely 'scottish oat porridge'.The usual wide range of drinks at around £2.I had the soup, there is usually a choice of two at £2.75; very good. So, nothing special but reliable, convenient and clean with friendly service. Wetherspoons just over the road is a better, and good, option if looking for a more extensive menu but still good value.Strangely, I can't find the important Food Standards Agency Hygiene Rating for this cafe on their website
Always slow service, staff never seem to have a clue what they doing and coffee is normally dreadful. I know it's convieient but it's over priced compared to some of the other little cafes in Alton or Chawton.

Coffee House & Bistro Great Food Served Your Way. Situated in one of the oldest buildings in Alton, the central seating area has a 'Palm Court' feel, providing the ideal location for a fortifying breakfast, morning coffee, a satisfying lunch, tea and cake
We mostly have the Chilli over Fries with Garlic Bread. It is always good, hot and tasty. My husband also loves the All Day Breakfast and my Mum loves the Jacket Potatoes.Glad you enjoyed your lunch. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

If you are in town and looking for a cheap and cheerful meal, then this place won't disappoint. The cooked breakfast is great value for money and is decent quality too. It is pretty much everything a cafe should be.

White's Cafe-Bar will be a wonderful place to relax and enjoy great homemade food! Situated in our Stable Yard entrance in Gilbert White's 18th Century Stable Block. The Cafe will serve fantastic locally sourced food for all the family! Perfect for mornin
Iâd visited before so was looking forward to my return visit but was disappointed. The tea room is lovely and the waitresses polite, and I so wanted to like my experience there more than I did. We ordered a cream tea (the scone was overdone), lemon drizzle (the best of a bad bunch) and treacle tart (no words for to describe the chemically aftertaste). The cakes may have been homemade but sadly on this occasion that doesnât make them any good. We also had to ask for, and wait for, milk for our tea and a knife for the scone.Disappointing as it has so much potential.

We are an independent coffee shop and chocolatier . Our menu ranges from full-English pannis sandwiches light bites a good selection of homemade cakes including gluten free. And a great selection of Belgium chocolates pop in and meet the team
Our first visit to this lovely tearoom/cafe today was a delightful experience. My friend ordered the avocado and poached eggs on seeded toast with sweet cherry tomatoes, it was beautifully presented and delicious. I enjoyed a really good Americano - it was a perfect coffee! Thank you. We would recommend a visit if you are looking for quality ingredients, perfectly cooked - a warm welcome and relaxing atmosphere. Perfect.

In Front Of The Jane Austen's House
Such a shame, directly opposite Jane Austens house this should be a goldmine. It looks a lovely place but we found the service very slow with a disinterested waitress and very average food.Hopefully we went on an off day, if not I have little hope for the future of the place.

The Departure Lounge Cafe is a lovely cafe/restaurant situated on the outskirts of Alton in Hampshire on the A339 to Basingstoke. Our unique setting offers beautiful countryside views.
We were lucky enough to have our wedding at The Departure Lounge Cafe. Itâs such a gorgeous vintage-style cafe and when we visited it for the first time, and saw the huge beautiful field next to it, we knew this is where we would get married. Simon and his team are incredible. He went above and beyond our expectations in making sure our big day was perfect. He was so helpful in the planning beforehand, and extremely responsive to all of our enquiries. Simon and his team made sure the day ran smoothly. He even sourced some local beer for our guests, which went down a treat! Itâs the perfect place if you want to put your own stamp on your big day. We wanted a relaxed, festival-style wedding and thatâs exactly what we got! We had a ceremony in the field (after legally marrying in a reg office) - but it looked and felt like the real deal! We brought in our own caterers (wood-fired pizza!) and a band, loads of DIY decorations, hay bales and lots of wild flowers. Nothing was a problem and they helped us to set it up and pack things away, which made things so much easier. All of our guests commented on what an amazing venue we had chosen, and it was lovely to see all of our family and friends of mixed ages having the best time. Thank you everyone at the cafe for all of your hard work. We would highly recommend The Departure Lounge Cafe, especially for weddings. We will be smiling for years to come!
