My wife and I did the 4 day tour of S.Laos out of Pakse in late November, 2019. It was excellent. Alex was easy to deal with by email and we had made the bookings and payment months in advance of our trip to Laos. He always responded promptly to emails from me and let us know how the arrangements were progressing for the tour. Due to lack of other bookings, our group tour ended up being a private tour with just the two of us and our guide, Tam, as well as the driver of the van. Tam was brilliant. He spoke English fluently and was great at providing information about the sites we were seeing. The tour covered everything we wanted to see in Southern Laos and I'm not sure there was anything else that one might want to have seen added to the tour in any way. We always had the sense with Tam that he had a feel for how long we wanted to spend at a destination and either added or shortened time as was appropriate. Just what you want a tour guide to do really. We NEVER went to any gift shops where you know guides are getting a commission and that again a huge plus compared to so many tours we have done elsewhere. My only bit of a constructive feedback I would offer to Xplore Asia and Alex is to perhaps work on their website a bit as it was a bit confusing initially with Xplore-Asia having a separate website from Xplore-Laos and different LAOS tours listed on the two different websites . I'd suggest you might lose potential bookings by not making sure all tours are listed in both places. Oh, and also perhaps worth mentioning that a good level of fitness is required to do the tour. Lots of walking involved and if you aren't comfortable climbing the odd steep hill, you are going to miss out in some places (e.g. Wat Phou in particular is impossible unless you can walk and climb hills). Hotels are not 5 star but we never expected that level of comfort. Other than that, all I can conclude with is a final two words: BOOK THEM!

Start in Luang Prabang and end in Pakse! We will arrive in the core of Laotian culture - Luang Prabang - where sparkles with its flickering verifiable and strict destinations just as broad regular magnificence. As an UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city is an appealing goal that you can't miss on your Laos visit. Next destination, 4000 Islands is a beguiling little jewel of a spot settled at the foot of Laos on the Cambodian border, and as the name recommends, comprises of bunches of small islands dissipated in the huge Mekong Delta.
