A group of islands and islets some 25 miles off the Tanzanian coast, the Zanzibar Archipelago is headlined by Unguja (often referred to simply as Zanzibar) and Pemba. Once a separate nation, Zanzibar has a long history of trade with the Arab world, dating back to at least the 11th century. The capital, Stone Town, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has many interesting historic attractions. Zanzibar's bright white beaches and nearby coral reefs make it very popular with the sun and sea set.

I sent a few days diving with the dive team out of the Manta Resort, the team there were very friendly, very experienced and made time to ensure that all levels were catered for. I usually take my own equipment but due to the weight restrictions on the flight I hired a full set which all functioned correctly, if you considering diving Mohammed and Mandela we look after you no matter what your level.

in general, I really liked the rest in Zanzibar. many impressions. were a large family with three children. highly recommend to visit. The ocean played with different colors, although there were ebb and flow. during low tide, the mini zoo turned out straight and we walked with the children and watched sea animals.

It is a nice place for many kinds of activities. Mainly I came for kitesurfing. It is a good kite spot with some disadvantages: some obstractions like a boats in front of the beach, some seaweed farms and sea urchins which you can spot during low water time.

The Heritage Centre therefore among other things aims at promoting tolerance, reconciliation and an inclusive society, bridging social and ethnic divides by telling the story of this dark chapter in the region’s history in an open and factual way. The creation of the Heritage Centre, and making it accessible to school children, who are the country’s future leaders, is also aimed to promote interfaith and inter-communal dialogue and understanding. Furthermore The Site is an important tourist destination, and by improving visitors’ facilities at the site and making it more informative and stimulating, the tourism industry as a whole will benefit, creating jobs and wealth, and helping to reduce poverty. The Heritage Centre among other things is also benefiting many people as it is a great opportunity to promote interfaith relations in Zanzibar.
though the tour was very interesting and good to know about the history and how ppl were treated, it was heart breaking to hear the stories and their suffering. going to the room they were trapped in to see its condition and relive it.

The DCMA is proud to be the guardians of a living cultural heritage and proud to preserve and promote the musical heritage of Zanzibar and the Dhow Countries. In training the students it ensures the continuation, knowledge, and legacy of a unique musical cultural heritage.
Inside the beautiful building, in the patio, you will get to enjoy live music every night by 8pm. Local young professional musicians will create a magic atmosphere were you will navigate, dance and feel Zanzibar's rhythms and melodies. By enjoying this gigs in Stone Town you are actually supporting the NGO that runs this project: empowering youth through music in Zanzibar. Personally, meeting the musicians was the best piece of my time in this island. hugs!
