Hutou Mountain Park / Hutoushan Park

Hutou Mountain Park is a highlight of Taoyuan city. The park is quite rugged, but has hiking trails. There is a Confucian academy; the park also has a traditional temple where a number of gods are worshipped. My brother-in-law took us there in his car; transport is not always convenient.

Dasi Old Town

Reviewed By Darius_7777 - Taipei, Taiwan

Dasi is a really great place to visit. You can have a very different experience from the city. In Dasi, there is unique architecture which is from the Japanese occupation period and the Dasi old street is famous. Dasi also is one of the Taiwan top ten towns for sightseeing. The only disadvantage is always full of people in the weekend. This time I participated in an annually festival called "DaxiDaxi" in summer. It was really spectacular and worth it.

Very interesting to walk and try variety of food at Shilin night market. The price was reasonable. I saw Michelin Guide noodle shop but not try as felt very full. Next time I will go there again and try.

It’s good for family to hangout. There’s lots of different type of foods, games, toys, and etc. You can chill out here. Actually I love the stinky tofu and fried chicken in ChungLi night market.

Daxi Old Street

Reviewed By 619jeffry - Essendon, Australia

Daxi Old Streeet has some stunning old architecture from the Japanese colonial period (1895-1945). It's a narrow street, we could just fit out car down it. The food is the snack-style sreet food that once dominated Taiwan's towns ands cities. Try it, it's good, I've eaten a lot of street food and I'm still round to tell the tale. Daxi is best known for its connection to Taiwan's old president, Chiang Kai-shek, who had a holiday house overlooing the river. Chiang is a controversial figure these days, I hope the proposal to do away with his holiday house is abandoned, it's a very quaint old building, it would be sad to see it go..
