One of the highlights of our Michigan trip!! Loves learning about the ecology of the dunes, enjoying the fun ride, and laughing at all the corny tour guide jokes!

A must stop on any trip to the area for fun and funky gifts, beautiful garden items and amazing architectural details for the home. The gentleman running the show is definitely a highlight! Can't wait to come back for some more amazing finds and great conversations.

The main street of Saugatuck was named for the town's founder, William Gay Butler.
This is a charming street with cute little shoppes and some places to get treats for the kids! We found a park and playground to entertain our toddler while waiting for a seat at a restaurant, and there are nice public restroom facilities. The street and businesses were so cute and make an outing in Saugatuck even more fun!

Named after former village president Frank Wicks, this park offers great river views and picnicking.
Saugatuck is so beautiful, but it can get very busy. Wicks park is a shady refuge where you can relax for a bit, and watch the river. Or you can people watch. We love to spend about an hour here, just resting and conversing.

Lake Michigan Beach, popular for its clear water and nice sand.
This is a great beach to watch the sunsets. It’s a small beach as much of the sand is eroding. There are facilities here and lots of parking, which makes it an easy beach to visit.

Although the steps are steep and you will get a work out, you can take your time. There are places to sit and rest on multiple landings all the way up. And the top had a wonderful view with the option to hike on further.

The ferry ride was pretty awesome to have an older way to cross the river. The cost was minimal and way to go to Saugatuck. There is no parking in Saugatuck, so parked at Mt. Baldy and took ferry across to walk around and had some ice cream.
