All of the cliches about stepping back in time are actually true - we'd say perhaps 400 years or so? (The Mozarabic church is actually about 1000 years old...) We wandered around and above the village soaking up the mountain vistas for hours - above the village we gathered wild chestnuts, walnuts and apples, which were everywhere. The road into the village is a little wild - a narrow one lane for kilometres where you pray you don't meet a returning car (we met only one as we were off-season).

I had the castle penciled down for a visit. The exterior impresses much more then its interior. In fact, the internal area is just a field surrounded by the walls. However, it is worth the visit. The views of the church and the town is quite nice.
