The town had a population of 57,600 in 2004, making it the second largest settlement in Leicestershire. It is close to the Nottinghamshire border and within short distances of Nottingham, East Midlands Airport and Derby. As a group we visit many interesting places, this was really good with a guided tour around the museum and the foundry. We were all enthralled with the introductory talk and the tuning room. Since this is now the only bell foundry left in the UK get there soon. the museum also holds some very interesting and indeed rare pieces. The Aeolian, a one off that looks like a piano, but has bells rather than strings.

The Climbing Station is a bouldering centre in Loughborough run for climbers, by climbers. We know what makes a great indoor-climbing experience and we put 100% into making sure that you'll have an amazing day. We have over 800sqm of bouldering surface, covering almost every angle that you can possibly think of. We also have a top rope wall that can be used by both kids and adults to learn the basics of roped climbing. As we are only a 3 minute drive from the centre of Loughborough, and less than a 10 minute drive from the M1, a large portion of our site is dedicated to secure parking. Bike racks are also available.
Great indoor climbing centre run by real enthusiasts. There is a range of bouldering routes for all levels which are regularly reset. Training for youngsters is peerless with sessions throughout the week. Drinks and cake in normal times. Sensible precautions for COVID19. Recommended.

We were staying across the road from the great central steam railway cafe. We decided to have breakfast in the week after relaxing of lockdown rules. This is a fab historic place. The tea room is well laid oit, spacious inside and out, and has adapted very well to the new safety, distancing, sanitiser procedures. Still relaxed friendly and social with good food. As an extra precaution they take addresses and contact details of customers, and were checking that no-one was coming from Leicester which is currently in lockdown. We were visiting family and will definately come again.

My 10-year old daughter is attending a 6-week beginners course and she’s loving it! Our instructor, Mark, is very knowledgeable and is making time to understand all of the participant’s skill level, strengths and weaknesses and is tailoring his advice to everyone individually. He’s making sure it’s fun too, especially important for a 10-year old as there’s a lot to take in at first, but Mark’s introducing things step by step and everyone is improving as the weeks go by. There’s a really good selection of great equipment and the shooting ranges are really well themed and laid out. It’s the highlight of my daughter’s week!

Includes exhibits reflecting the history, geology, archaeology and industries of Charnwood and the surrounding area,
On a shopping trip to Loughborough we dropped in at Queens Park just to give out boys a chance to play, and then stumbled upon the museum after visiting the past area. Seeing it was free we wandered in and were so glad we did. It held our pre-school boys attention for over an hour, with quite a few interactive things to do including a play kitchen, book corners and a shop with scales. There were also toilets with baby change (connected to the restaurant). The theme running round the museum (this might change) was based around Ladybird books, and this nostalgia was great for my wife and I, plus it had a history of Beaumanor Hall, where we had got married. So worth a visit if you are in the area.

Due to a major refurbishment we will not be open during 2018. Work starts after Easter and should be finished by September. Remembrance Sunday will be as normal.
Really interesting history inside mainly focused on the two world wars. The money you pay to get in goes towards its upkeep. I chatted to a really interesting veteran who really knew his stuff and was super friendly. Worth a visit if you're in loughborough.

I took my toddler here on a spur of the moment trip and found it had everything we needed... amazing views, amazing rocky formations on the hill itself with perfect views on a clear day, a woodland walk, good little play area and lots of space for picnics. Really loved it as a different morning out for the little one.

Great real ales. Love this pub. Nice warm roaring fire last night, sat in a very comfy chair by the fire drinking infinity, very friendly staff and good prices. Keep up the good work, try one of their pork pies too.

Animal Farm park. Wide selection of animals, indoor and out door play, lake, nature trail and woodlands, cafe and bistro
We visited earlier in the week for the first time and were very impressed! Fortunately the weather was in our favour which added to a good time. We were very pleased with the Covid measures adopted at the park and the general level of cleanliness! There were a good range of animals to see and although one or two activities were currently postponed this did not detract from our day. The staff were very friendly and helpfull, the Antlers bistro served good food at very reasonable prices and it was lovely to sit on the veranda in the sunshine! We will return!
