Tantilly is a very colorfull shop, you can't stop looking, there are so many beautiful things. Dresses, skirts, blouses, scarfs....they all have super colors. It's like a candyshop, little gifts, nice jewelry and bags...there is so much, and it's all fair trade. And the women are so helpful and nice. Tantilly is a happy experience.... Love...Angelique

We enjoyed having drinks in the afternoon on this lovely square and visiting the farmers' market on Saturday. Even in Corona Times this was very enjoyable.

What is always sad to me is when I see beautiful churches in the Netherlands that are not used any more as a home for prayers. This is one of such churches. It is now used as a gallery. Amazing masterpiece, when you're inside, you have feeling that you walk through history. Really recommend to visit when you are in Deventer. Deventer in general is not very touristic place, not as popular as Amsterdam or the Hague but it's really worth visiting. And bergkerk is one more reason to visit Deventer.

Stunning church with simple, Calvinistic interior (white) which traces of it's Catholic past. Wonderful and spacious.

It seems a bit incongruous in 2019 to think about Vikings destroying this enjoyable and interesting ancient town on the meandering River Ijssel (pronounced Eye-sill), but they did in the year 882. The Museum De Waag in the city's market square (called the "Brink') tells that story, and many others, including the city's development during its Hansa years and after that into modern times. The Hansa was a federation of trading cities in the late Middle Ages. The museum's home, completed in 1531, is an architectural testimony to the city's self-confidence and prosperity during that period. I visited Deventer in April, 2019, by car. One pleasant way to enter the city is to take the little passenger ferry that crosses the river. It takes about 5 minutes and is a mini-treat in itself. The cost for two in April was Euros 3.30 and included the return trip. A useful bonus is that there is a municipal parking lot next to the ferry, which means you can avoid the one-at street system in the town if you are driving. Google Maps recognizes its address, which is helpful: Worp 2, 7419 AD, Deventer, Netherlands.
