This half day eco tour visits two different snorkel destinations, each with an extraordinary array of marine life and coral species. The tour begins at Cape Tribulation beach where guests board the vessel bound for the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef. After an exhilarating fast ride of approximately 25 minutes guests are ready to snorkel two fabulous locations at Mackay and Undine Reefs. On most days the rainforest can be seen along the mainland beach whilst snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, home to an abundance of marine life as well as beautiful hard and soft corals. The Ocean Safari vessel takes a maximum of 25 passengers allowing guests to experience tropical paradise and the pleasure of a small group. Dan Irby's Mangrove Adventures

Very personal (max. 10) nature-based Daintree River tour. Experienced, friendly and science-based information. We think the tour when on a small boat is so much better than tours on the other larger 20, 24, 30-50 seat boats that also tour the river. (Doing usual their usual one-hour croc-spotting tours while sitting shoulder to shoulder on hard bench seats). (On some boats the people are all sitting facing toward the inside of the boat). We go for longer tours (minimum two hours) and go places where many boats can't go because they are limited by time and their larger boat sizes. We get to see many magical places that they they can't. Several times over the years people have told me that their Mangrove Adventures tour was the highlight of their Australian vacation. "The Nightwatchman" is a small 6 metre, open-topped, punt with 10 comfortable swivel seats. Powered by quiet 60 hp 4-stroke outboard motor. And we don't offer any other marketing gimmicks other just passion and careing.

Daintree National Park

Part of Queensland Wet Tropics World Heritage area.

Reviewed By VTJedi

The Daintree National Park is huge. Technically it spans both parts of the river which you have to cross by ferry in your car. Forget a tour company - do yourself a favor and see it on your own. The roads were easy to drive and on our day trip from Port Douglas we visited Cape Tribulation (beach and lookout for over an hour - at times the only ones on this pristine beach), we hiked one of the boardwalks and was a cassowary and her baby, we visited the famous ice cream place and had amazing tropical ice cream and walked around the property looking at the trees, and we visited the lookout for views. That was a full day. We would have needed more time to see/do more in Daintree. Maybe next time we'll consider spending the night. It's where 2 UNESCO world heritage sites meet and there's plenty to do here but I recommend do it yourself by car. I watched the way the small tours operate and I would have been miserable on their prescribed highlights. One of the tours didn't even let them people but 5 minutes on Cape Tribulation beach - what a pity for them!
