National Cartoon Gallery

The National Cartoon Gallery @ The Bunker Coffs Harbour is Australia's only dedicated cartoon gallery. It is housed in a genuine World War II underground bunker which was constructed in 1943 as a communications facility for the R.A.A.F. Today it is a quirky exhibition space with regularly changing exhibitions of funny and insightful cartoons from Australian and International cartoonists. The Bunker is also the home of the Annual Rotary Cartoon Awards and holds a collection of more than 24,000 cartoons, one of the largest collections of its type in world. In the past month a brand new gallery has been added above the old bunker so there are now two galleries for the visitor to spend time viewing from the fantastic collection held by the gallery. We also now have a beautiful café that is open during the gallery opening hours - 10am to 4pm - every day but Good Friday and Christmas Day.

We ended up here on a rainy day while visiting Coffs. Had a good laugh. Most of the cartoons are political and may be offensive so do take note of that. Worth a visit!

A full retail shop to buy at factory prices & mail order is available. Tea/coffee is available and a colouring-in table for the little ones. Really glad to have visited. The facility, history and learning experience was just fantastic. I had no idea about Carobs or their use a chocolate alternative. The products they make are very tasty. It’s great to see a true family business like this still thriving. The family owners and operators are really lovely and didn’t hesitate to tell me various interesting stories. 10/10

Solitary Islands Aquarium

The Solitary Islands Aquarium, located at Southern Cross University's National Marine Science Centre, serves as an important community asset helping to bring an awareness and appreciation for our marine environment through education and science. Our facility is focused on regional species, resource management and conservation. The aquarium provides an intimate experience for visitors to learn about and to interact with marine life of the Coffs Coast through our series of aquariums, presentations, and visual displays.

We spent a fascinating few hours exploring the marine life of the Coffs Coast. The displays were visually stunning and showcased the diversity found. The kids loved the 'treasure hunt' activity that kept them searching from display to display and learning the names of the animals. They also loved the activity area where they could get hands and learn. Definitely worth a visit.

Forest Sky Pier

The Forest Sky Pier is a spectacular architectural feature providing the panoramic views over the Coffs Coast and Hinterland. Cantilevered off the edge of Sealy Lookout in Orara East State Forest, the Forest Sky Pier projects 22 metres out over rainforest, 15 metres above the forest canopy. The Forest Sky Pier is a 5-10 minute drive off the Pacific Highway through banana plantations and forest, taking in amazing views as you travel up the hill side. It's a must-see destination for the North Coast.
