With 37 years of experience rafting on some of the most powerful rivers in the British Columbia interior, IWE is able to provide unmatched multi-sport excursions to people of all ages. Personal attention, smaller groups and knowledgeable, capable staff who exceed provincial safety guidelines are reasons IWE has set itself apart in the river rafting industry in Canada. Of course there’s the trips, too, and they’re unparalleled. IWE has developed a group of adventure experiences that will excite and challenge you. But you don’t have to be an adrenaline-charged extremist to enjoy the ride. Our whitewater trips are designed for all levels - from the river rookies to the seasoned rafters - and safety guidelines are stressed and demonstrated before every trip leaves IWE headquarters. In 2012 we became part of Tourism Canada’s “Signature Experience” collection of companies that showcase Canada to tourists locally and abroad and offer them a “Once in a Lifetime” opportunity while in Canada.

This large scenic park and wilderness area contains five major lakes, two river systems, many small lakes, streams, waterfalls and rapids, which make this an outdoor recreation paradise.
When we learned that most of the hikes were low-level, along rivers or creeks, I feared we'd get bored. Not to worry! We had a wonderful time during our relaxed, 4-day stay. The first day, on our host's recommendation, we walked Ray Farm, then spent hours gazing mesmerized at the salmon vainly trying to scale Bailey's Chute, then finished with a walk up to Myanth Falls (West Lake trail looked too muddy). Second day we walked up to Trophy Mountain meadows. Wonderful vistas. Tho it was cloudy and a scant 9 degrees at the trailhead at 10:30, the sun burned off the clouds and it warmed up nicely. Stopped at Spahat Creek Falls on the way home. Third day was a change: we rented kayaks for an all-day paddle on Clearwater Lake. Beautiful, quiet, hot. My only quibble was that we had to get the double kayak down from the rack and into the water by ourselves. We're small people (it probably weighed 5x my weight) and in our '70s, so it was quite a struggle. The last day we spent on waterfalls: Helmken, Dawson, and down to the base of Moul, plus the Green Mt. Tower lookout. You could probably do it all in 3 days if you worked harder, but we loved our leisurely visit. Very recommended.

Make sure to stop in here before you start to explore Wells Gray provincial Park. The guides are so helpful and provided us with so much information for activities that are available for people to experience here. They give out an excellent easy to follow map, ask you how many days you’re staying, and then go from there to provide you with information about all that you can experience in Wells Gray. The staff were really friendly and helpful and gave us suggestions that we didn’t even know were available, hence why it’s so important to stop in before you start to explore. ???? The info centre is a great place to explore itself as it has information about the area, animals, Indigenous peoples and souvenirs.

On the way back from our Rocky Mountain coach tour we stopped at the Wells Gray Provincial Park at Clearwater, just off the Southern Yellowhead Highway. We had to walk a bit from the bus parking lot but it was quite a pleasant one through some old growth forest. The towering falls looked beautiful with the water gushing down from a narrow opening in the layers of solidified lava and falling with a force about eighty feet below. The falls were in two steps making it look longer. We could distinctly make out the different layers of solidified lava flows which led to the formation of these hills. There are supposed to be four more major falls in the Wells Gray Park but we were on a time budget so we had to get back in our bus to Vancouver. There were decent washrooms and a food stall selling hot Belgian waffles near the parking lot.
