Keepers Lodge Clay Shoot

Reviewed By Juice2017 - Bognor Regis, United Kingdom

My family and I spent the morning with Clive and Rob at the clay shoot. It was excellent fun and I even managed to hit a few which is testament to Clive's teaching as I have a rubbish aim! Great place to go if you want to do something as a group. Also, where you shoot from is semi covered so it doesn't matter if the weather is a bit rubbish! They have great facilities for having refreshments too and we were looked after really well. Thank you so much Clive and Rob and we will see you again soon!

Chepstow Castle

Beautifully preserved Chepstow Castle stretches out along a limestone cliff above the River Wye like a history lesson in stone. There’s no better place in Britain to see how castles gradually evolved to cope with ever more destructive weaponry – and the grandiose ambitions of their owners. For more than six centuries Chepstow was home to some of the wealthiest and most powerful men of the medieval and Tudor ages. The displayed opening times are our general pattern. Please check the Cadw website for specific times and days, including closures.

Offa's Dyke Path

Reviewed By keithh224 - Chesham, United Kingdom

We walked from Chepstow to St. James's Church at Lancaut along Offa's Dyke. Beautiful Spring day & the path passed through fields of dandelions & buttercups, under beech, oak, hazel & some resurgent elm. Above an old quarry, the flanks covered in Hart's Tongue fern. Climber's practising their art on the cliff wall's. Passed some characterful houses, among them Pen Moel, a sprawling Victorian giant of a place & Spital Meend, a classy mansion built of stone, half hidden among trees.

Amazing structure, mind blowing how the monks built it where a transport system was non existent and it helped the village development.

There's so much to see and do in the area. We went cycling in the forest of Dean and canoeing down the River Wye. All booked last minute and the cabin was really cosy to come back to.

Old Wye Bridge

Reviewed By TMRDavies - Chepstow, United Kingdom

This bridge carries the old road between England/Wales, from Gloucestershire to Monmouthshire over the River Wye and has the border right in the middle. Like some places on the equator you can straddle two countries. If you are on one side of the bridge you can take a picture of this with Chepstow Castle in the background. Also marvel at the massive tide range here, the same rise and fall of the River Severn, and at certain times you;ll see the River Wye "flow the other way" when the tide comes in. The eddys and whirlpools under the bridge are quite hypnotic. You may also see a seal from her as they hunt for salmon. The elegant cast iron bridge is unique with its five spans and celebrated its bicentenary recently.
