We visited Pagaruyung palace in August 2019. This palace is the most famous attraction in MinangKabau area. The palace is very beautiful and well preserved. It has typical architecture of Minangkabau style with peaked roofs and walls that are remarkably carved and richly decorated. Then, we visited other typical villages with very beautiful and colourful in the surroundings, i.e. Sulit Air, Pariangan and Rao Rao. Highly recommended to visit!!!

I just finished climbing Singgalang Mountain. Singgalang is a mountain in front of gunung marapi. Singgalang is a very natural mountain with great views along the way. especially in the moss forest and telaga dewi a very beautiful lake at the top of the mountain. this time we were accompanied with a very professional guide. the name is Fajar of ambasador trekking. Fajar and his team are very good people with very nice personalities. for the food menu prepared for us vegetarians is very tasty and prepared according to our request. what we will never forget is the kawa daun coffee serve by fajar. We will come back to try hiking at marapi mountain of course with mr Fajar. If you need a profesional mountain guide who has been certified by the Indonesian Mountain Guides Association, especially in West Sumatra, fajar is a right person. Cantact number. We visited the famous white clock tower in Art Deco style with traditional Indonesian roof style in August 2019. It’s located in a pleasant area of Bukittingi, with: - many horse drawn carts allowing to do sightseeing tours, which are highly recommended for families with kids! - many small shops and colourful markets and sellers. Very pleasant area!!!

We visited the beautiful Sianok canyon in August 2019, that is located about 4 km far from Bukittingi. It’s a very fine valley with a river meandering and 100 meters high cliffs, with Singgalang volcano in the background. There are also typical villages. We visited Kota Gadang that is famous for silverware; there are also beautiful houses in the Minangkabau style and old Dutch style houses. A very pleasant area!

A fine example of war history and human endurance! Well worth the experience, be sure to get an English speaking guide though. Without a guide, would be an injustice unless you can converse in Bahasa...
