Mahabodhi Temple is one of the ancient and most important shrines of India. Located at Bodhgaya, Mahabodhi Mahavihara Temple is easily accessible from the major towns and cities of Bihar. The nearest airport is located at Patna that lies at a distance of 96 kms from Gaya. The holy town Bodh Gaya or Gaya has its own railway station. The town is also connected with major cities by network of roads. The literal version of Mahabodhi Temple is the Great Awakening Temple.
The Mahabodhi Temple is the holiest place located at Bodhgaya Bihar. Its a very calm place.Still the temple is well maintained and have its own charm.

The inner sanctum of The Maha bodhi stupa is surreal.Once can just meditate there for hours even though so many people are doing their rounds of the stupa.Just to be in the very place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment is enough to make it even more special. The evening times were even more beautiful with the colorful lights on the stupa and the chanting of prayers. One can just get lost in time here with no thoughts and that is precious. The only thing which can be changed is the guards whistle, which they blow to let people know that the timing of closing down the area is at hand.It is really disturbing and destroys the peace of the sanctum.

Bihartrips.com (A unit of KTEC Tours) We providies Tour Packages, Car rentals services in Gaya- Bodhgaya Bihar, and other Buddhist pilgrimage destination across India.
Having read a few good reviews about this company and decided to try it myself. We were group of 5 and already got a plan in mind. My first impression is fast response from Mr. Arun Raja. The fare quoted is fair compared to other operators. We started the journey from Varanasi and need a car from Sarnath to Bodhgaya and also another 2 full days to tour around Bodhgaya and Rajgir. Driver was at the meeting point before the appointed time; in every visiting spots. Driver was able to speak English. Car was clean with a/c. Arun came to meet us at Bodhgaya and when we wanted to change the accommodation as the rooms previously booked at a guest house was full of problems, he offered to help search and brought us to a new hotel, stayed with us over an hour to inspect the rooms and departed when we were all satisfied and settled in. I was so grateful for his kindness and felt very fortunate to have contacted him. I will definitely use the service of Ktec Tours again in my future visit, and would highly recommend any visitors to India to contact him as his company serves most regions in India.

A Buddhist centre in the Tibetan tradition located in Bodhgaya, India, providing a tranquil haven for the study and practice of philosophy & meditation, we also serve Bodhgaya and surrounding villages through our three social service projects.
This is a wonderful place to learn about Mahayana Buddhist philosophy and meditation. They have ten day courses with excellent teachers. The venerable Namgyl has a very enjoyable teaching style bringing laughter and happiness to the profound dharma teachings. Root Institute also has a charitable health clinic on sight and a nearby school providing volunteers opportunities for engagement in service.

You can visit this Great Buddha and say wow and walk away. Or you can take the time to connect, chant or meditate. Additionally you can walk around slowly and learn the meaning of different hand placements. This Buddha resonates very strong energy.

During my visit to Gaya, we stayed just near 1.2KM away from this place. The intention to stay there was to visit all the important sites in or near Bodh Gaya. This temple is one of the largest and most visited temple/monastery among many many Monasteries & temples. This temple is just near to the Large Buddha Statue. If you are Buddha Follower or wish to explore about Bodh Dharma must visit this site.

the Monastery can be visited on the way to or while coming back from the Buddha Statue, but do try to make it during daylight as the brilliance of the colours in and outside the Monastery is better captured then. Once, in Oct'14, we were fortunate to be there a day prior to His Excellency, the Royal Highness, King of Bhutan's visit; and saw the decorations in the extreme glory!!

The Thai Monastery is a beautiful one and draws huge crowds like all the other monasteries built by other countries having a sizeable Buddhist population.
