My son and I wanted to go to Blenheim Palace so we decided to stay overnight instead of driving back the same day. We looked for hotels close by and we chose The Duke of Marlborough hotel. We were happy with the price. When we arrived it looked lovely and we weren't disappointed. Booking in was easy and the owner was friendly. The room was also nice and comfortable. It was clean, and tidy. The bathroom was clean and tidy also. The room was warm and it had everything that made the stay comfortable. The food was exceptional abit costly but you paid for what you got. It was tasty and filling. The price includes breakfast in the morning which didnt disappoint either. The staff were very friendly and we didnt wait long for our food or drinks. Overall we enjoyed our stay, it's well worth a visit. I believe you pay for what you get and if you are disappointed then you expectations are to high.

A classic, English pub in the historic town of Woodstock. Serving delicious homemade pies & Sunday roasts. Taken over in January 2018.
This is quite a small pub but very cozy. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and in the snug but not in the main restaurant. We booked ahead (good thing really, the town was very busy) and the internet booking system worked well - even reminding us of the booking about 2 hours beforehand. The Sunday meal was a traditional roast and each of us had a different meat and the meals were really good. Recommended. Why only 4*s ? As I said the place is quite small and there were a number of young kids running around screaming, with little parental control and also the older folk at the bar were a little choice with their language which would offend some . .some very strong swear words used. The place was very busy and I think our booking got shifted from the snug to the side of the main bar because of the large party of parents & children (and so as a consequence were rather closer to the bar & heard the industrial language). The restaurant looked nice but as we had dog, we couldn't eat there (fair enough). So a good meal but perhaps the owners could moderate some of the behaviours of the patrons.

Grade 2 listed Coaching Inn. Bar, Restaurant and Rooms in Historic Woodstock, Oxfordshire.
We ate here as part of a Virgin experience combined with a visit to Blenheim Palace. It seemed once we mentioned the deal we were treated very shoddily, service to us was really slow in fact another couple came in at the same time and had eaten and left just as we were getting our mains. We didnât stay to finish the meal and what we had seemed poor quality. The staff were more interested in a couple of their mates at the bar than serving customers.

The Orangery Restaurant combines grand architecture and elegant design. Historically used as a store for orange trees and then as a private theatre, the Orangery has a significant place in the history of Blenheim Palace, and now is open to visitors as a s

Service was poor from the start. We had reserved a table for two for a birthday meal, and when I arrived they tried to seat us on the only non-laid up table in an almost empty restaurant. When ordering, we asked a couple of questions about the size of the portions, and were told not to order the large salad as the waiter had done so once and "felt like a cow". Not sure what he was implying. We have the "avocado & pesto bruschetta, roasted tomato salsa". The meanest amount of avocado, spread thinly like Marmite. A 20p size blob of pesto and the salsa?! I think it was tomato ketchup. Next up was the main course. I had gone for the "hot smoked salmon nicoise salad" but asked for the egg to be hard boiled as I don't like runny yolks. I didn't think I was asking alot, but it came out with a barely cooked poached egg on the top. I pointed this out to the waiter who ensured me it was hard boiled and told me to cut into it to prove his point. I did, and yolk poured across my salad. I asked for the egg to be removed and so the waiter did just that, leaving yolk all over my salad (which had the potatoes been cooked for another few minutes, would have been okay. Generous quantities of salmon!). We declined the pudding menu and were left alone for around 40 mins. When we went up to the bar to ask for the bill, we were simply chucked a receipt. Not the level of service we were looking for on a special birthday meal. There are many other pubs in Woodstock, most of which I have tried. I will not be returning here.Dear ShiptongirlThank you for taking the time to leave a review

We had a couple of pints here on evening and couldn't fault it,but it was the £5 breakfast, compared to the £17 breakfast in our hotel across the road that sealed our return visit.

The team behind the award-winning Ebrington Arms near Chipping Campden reopened The Killingworth Castle in Wootton, near Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Having been closed for nearly a year, Claire and Jim Alexander have refurbished every nook and cranny of this
Been here many times but will probably not return. Went in a small group of friends for lunch. The pub is being extended with some refurbishment but this should not affect the standard of food. Must say that the service was very good.BUT the set lunch was most disappointing, the pork being, well I am not sure, but certainly reconstituted and the desert apricots could not be cut with a spoon. The fish was overcooked and the chips were awful, we thought that they had been overcooked in fat that had been used a number of times before.By the time we left a haze filled the part of the dining room where we were sitting, from the fat frying in the kitchen, we were pleased to leave.Oh, and the prices have risen considerably!!

I spent the night, with my little dog, and had a good stay. I arrived at lunchtime and they were extremely busy and remained so for the rest of the day. Friends joined me for dinner in the bar. Our meal was very good but the service was lacking, we kept having to ask for everything. The room was comfortable and a great atmosphere in the pub but I was not made to feel welcome.

The Black Prince is a 16th century pub situated opposite to the grounds of Blenheim Palace and on the bank of the river Glyme. It boasts a delightful riverside garden for you to enjoy the summer sunshine overlooking the calming river. Inside the pub there
Pub to the north end of Woodstock, down hill. Small free parking at rear. Very friendly staff. Nice simple menu & specials. Good guest beers to sample before choosing. Very good food, main courses & desserts had. Very reasonable pricing. Well worth a visit.

The Windrush Inn uses fresh, locally sourced produce where ever possible, ideally buying directly from the producer, therefore offering our customerâs wholesome tasty food which they can be confident in, not only the origins of that food but also in the f
What a lovely experience at lunchtime today. We were greeted with a pleasant welcome with very attentive staff. My partner was undecided on his drink and was given samples so he could decide. Lunch was warm, tasty, with a good choice of meats & vegetables. A pleasant view over the countryside as we had a table window. We were not rushed and felt relaxed in the pleasant atmosphere. Would highly recommend and we will be back for sure. Thank you so much for leaving us such a wonderful review. It really does mean so much to us all when we receive positive feedback on how hard we work!We look forward to welcoming you in the futureMia
