Really excellent full of flavour food with friendly staff and good ambience. However, slightly let down by none disability friendly ladies loos. Perhaps from the old days of men only pubs, but now the downstairs loos need to be a unisex disability loo instead.Hello,Thank you for taking time to review the Pickering arms.Really pleased you enjoyed your time with us.With regards to the toilets, I will bring this up with my area manager and see if anything can be done. Thanks again.Christine, Jim and team pick.

From the time we met Jon the happy barman it was obvious that this was a pleasant place to be. The lovely slim girl who assisted us was obliging and equally pleasant . The menu is typical of the traditional pub and the children loved their chicken strips . Regrettably the famous Elliot fish pie which I ordered was disappointing as it was a bowl of mash covering a limited selection of creamed fish. However all the other adults enjoyed their meals so letâs give it another try

Cosy pub much bigger than it looks, excellent attention from waiters and waitresses from the minute we walked in. The hardest part was choosing what to have, brilliant menu and specials all well priced. The food we had was lovely, proper chips as well as high quality food! Canât wait to go again.

Our food speaks for itself as we pride ourselves on the quality, taste and presentation of the food we serve, as mouth watering dishes, scrupulous attention to detail and personal service all fuse to bring about the perfect experience.
We took a while to locate Spirit as it's tucked away behind the Park but it didn't disappoint . A lovely setting. We sat inside the bar area looking at the menus it was a busy Saturday night and service was a little slow. The restaurant being busy was beautifully spread out. We could all hear ourselves speak which is rare on a Saturday night! The furniture and decor is very tasteful. The food was of a really high standard and delicious , beautifully presented. We ranged from roast tomato soup to halloumi ,beef kebabs, superb butternut squash ravioli , monkfish curry and lamb rump. Given the quality of the food it was reasonably priced. We look forward to returning.

First visit, hadn't booked but welcomed with big smiles and excellent, unrushed service throughout -perfect on a very wet, miserable day. Nicely spaced and set banquettes & tables, non intrusive background music and great 'banter' (not compulsory!) We both opted for the 2 courses prix fixe menu (there is a tasty looking brunch menu too -both served until 3pm).We especially enjoyed the celeriac soup ( 2nd 'taster' spoon provided!) & confit pork croquette - tender & packed with flavour. Tasty fish and chips to follow -one of two additions for the day to the prix fixe choices and the written menu changes regularly. The fish was 'chunky' and perfectly cooked. We shared a cheese plate "3 british cheeses, sourced within 60 miles of the Terrace served with quince, grapes, honey, celery & a selection of biscuits" plenty for 2 after the 2 courses. A large glass of rose for the non driver - perfectly chilled - and an excellent 'partly shared' glass of dessert wine with the cheese. We like that, where possible the food is locally sourced, it's freshly cooked and well presented. We felt full without that 'I've overeaten' feeling. Good to have a different 'more upmarket' but still informal restaurant in the village and we're already thinking about our next visit together and to recommending it to friends. Thank you all very much:)Dear ourfeatheredfriendsThank you for your lovely review, we appreciate how thorough you have been in describing your first dining experience with us and we hope it was the first of many.We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Many thanks, Marc.
