We have had fish and chips in lots of places, this place was fantastic, My mother and I had sea bass ,new pots and green beans. Husband and daughter had fish and chips. Husband said the batter was light. Not greasy and on a par with fish and chips that we had in Whitby. The sea bass was a whole filleted one, it was grilled to perfection, the whole meal was hot and tasty from start to clean plate finish. In fact half a fillet and a couple of pots would have been enough, the green beans were just lovely, steamed not soggy colourless limp things.The restaurant is lovely and clean and we will certainly be visiting on a regular basis. They also serve beer and wine.

We stumbled across the flying pickle on a Saturday afternoon,it was close to the kitchen closing but they accommodated our 3 sandwich orders and we are so pleased they did,they were delicious and full to the brim with fillings,the side salad was amazing and the best coleslaw Iâve ever eaten,a great selection for all diets and we will certainly return to try more on the menu,also the staff were very friendly and helpful

We stopped here after a visit to Devon Railway Centre next door. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We sat outside in the lovely garden area and ordered a lite bite sandwich. Salmon and cream cheese, Ham and Cheese and a Mediterranean veg toasted ciabatta. The food was well presented with a fresh side salad, good sized portions and very tasty. Although a little pricey for a sandwich and side salad/garnish it was tasty and served with a smile. We would certainly recommend Bickleigh Mill and will definitely visit again. We do have a keen eye on what other restaurants charge for their meals weighed up with the quality that you receive. We bake our own bread on the premises, something that we feel is a decending trend in many restaurants. Have been a few times for a cake and drink and once for breakfast (average) the menu is quite substantial and has a large range on offer prices are reasonable for what you get , however the staff can be quite grumpy depending on who serves you the young girl that works there is always very helpful and freindly the owner and others could learn a thing or two about customer service! As its local to me and I'm all for supporting local businesses , there's more than one eatery similar to this in Tiverton and I have to say I get a warmer welcome elsewhere , would I go back yes things may improve on the back of feedback through sites like this ,I was quite sad to read your review and disappointed that you find our breakfast average. I'm really sorry that you find us all 'grumpy' However the young lady who you find helpful and chatty is a lovely young lady and maybe we all need to take a leaf out of her book. Thank you however for continuing to use us hopefully we will meet your expectations in the future.

I haven't visited this restaurant for 18 months so wasn't sure if it would be as good now, I needn't have worried it was superb.The service, the food, the surroundings make a meal here a real treat. I am coeliac but their menu is clearly marked, in fact a whole page is devoted to allergies and where they are likely to be and they advised me they could make other dishes especially for me too.I can't wait to return, this restaurant is a must. My companion was impressed too, and he spends his working life staying in 5* hotels worldwide.

My wife and I decided to have a ploughmanâs lunch here after completing the horse drawn canal boat ride.To be fair it was a lovely day and the garden was pretty full so we expected some delay in food delivery. When we placed our order we were told that a wait of 20 to 30 minutes might ensue. After waiting some 45 minutes or so we asked a passing waiter how much longer? He was polite but said âcanât really say could be another 10 minutesâ we had decided to ask for our money back when the food suddenly arrived! The quality was adequate rather than good, quantity was good. However the long delay spoiled our visit. I guess that at peak Summer times the kitchen process is overloaded, but surely that comes down to more peak time staff? You would be better off driving into ?Tiverton and finding a local pub/cafe!

Our evening meal was superb rump steak cooked to perfection with all the trimmings. The restaurant is decorated very romantic with fairy lights and very interesting bits and pieces the staff were very happy and friendly. We also had a Sunday roast the next day it was the best we ever had tender beef and at least six vegetables and amazing roast potatoes. The landlord is a very happy chap and proud of his pub and so he should be.We are so glad that you enjoyed the ambiance, your rump steak and the Sunday roast beef. All our beef is either quality West Country or Exmoor beef. A big thank you for your super review, from all of us here at The Mitre Inn and we hope to see you again in the future.

Sorry we are closed for a short holiday. We re-open on Wed 12th June '19. Rumoured to be the oldest pub in Devon, open fires, dogs and families welcome. It's best to book if you can for Friday, Saturday and Sunday's as the weekend dining is popular.

Lovely to be back at the Stag, a really good refurb. Had dinner one night and a sunday lunch another. Both good. Interesting gins, and some interesting liqueurs. Would like to see some more local ales on pumps, and need a someone behind the bar more and waiting staff who keep you going in drinks, as we would all have liked more top ups.

Booked here at short notice, got a table no problem. Very welcoming. Lovely starter, even the salad was so well presented. Great mains too, one steak and a veggie option. Big portions and really tasty. Will definitely be returning when we can, live locally but donât get out often(kids)!! We stopped off here for dinner as it was en route without a reservation after reading some great reviews. They were fully booked mid week but happy to serve us as we had arrived early. The menu has some really interesting choices, not the usual pub grub menu. We thought the food and service was excellent! As a coeliac gluten free person there was plenty of choice and even a local gluten free beer on tap- amazing!
