Returned here after a break due to the place going from 5 star to zero following a takeover, however, now under a different manager and whilst not yet back to the standard of a few years back everything is cooked fresh and to a good standard, Sunday lunch was very good, we will return to try other food here & update again but is worth a visit.

As a fairly local lad, I have only ever really attended this pub for a drink. On this one occassion however, I attended after being suit fitted for my best friend's wedding and we took his dad and the father-in-law to be for some lunch as they're getting on a bit. I will keep this fairly short because there is very little to say other than it's spot on. I ordered the Sausage, Mash, Onion Gravy, and Veg and it was delicious. Hot, tasty, and reasonably priced. Decent lining to the stomach too. I said this last time I wrote a review on the place back in 2017 that the food is great but I was limited in what I could say as I only had a sandwich. Even then, it put a smile on my face.If you've come here to see what the food is like, then I fully encourage you to go and give it a visit. If you've come on here to see what the place is like, I can honestly only say the same. Go and see.

Great atmosphere, food and staff but a specials board should be in the place where you are seated with a menu. To have it in the bar where it cannot be seen is very inconvenient! This means you have to keep getting up to read it, maybe have it printed on paper and given to you with the menu?

This family run pub/restaurant prides itself on the high quality, homecooked food that is served 7 days a week. Not only do we provide traditional English dishes, our extensive menu contains a number of different cuisines, to make sure there is something
We had afternoon tea and dressed in a Downton Abbey theme. Maxine and Shaun couldn't do enough for us. The food was amazing and plentiful, the service was 1st class and the staff were fabulous. Tom was super attentive. Please visit The Wheatsheaf you wont be disappointed

We are a traditional victorian Tearooms serving authentic tea with old fashioned home cooked English meals. You will feel as though you have stepped back in time when you walk in Lily's
Been to this cafe/restaurant several times now mostly for breakfast, great little place to eat with friendly staff and good old home made food. Nice cup of loose tea to go with your breakfast. had lunch there a couple of times also nice homemade chips. In short well worth a visit.

We just can't keep away from here, becoming regulars. The food, whether it be high tea, curry, breakfast, scones or cake is top notch. Everything is good quality at a very reasonable price - love it!

Never normally review restaurants but this place totally deserves a review and a good one at that! Took family for motherâs day - the food, the service, the ambience, the value - everything was perfect. Couldnât fault it. Weâll be back without a doubt!

Spent £101 on a meal for two..Potatoes undercooked, cold and hard. My dessert around 3 spoons full. Management not receptive to comments and hostile to say the least. Avoid this place and spend your ££ elsewhere..

Enjoy the Houghwood experience in a perfect setting, overlooking the beautiful North West Countryside. With a modern British menu on offer, together with traditional Sunday Lunch. The first floor restaurant with its great food, friendly staff, magnificent
Very pleasant surroundings with beautiful views as far as the river Mersey. Brunch in the Spikes Bar was okay but the menu has been much reduced including the disappearance of the scrumptious turkey and cranberry sandwiches. No festive afternoon teas being served this year also a disappointment. Hopefully the new year will see a review of the menu. Also £2.25 for a small bottle of Coca Cola is rather excessive.
