Rugeley (/ˈruːdʒli/ ROOJ-lee) is a historic market town in the county of Staffordshire, England. It lies on the north-eastern edge of Cannock Chase next to the River Trent, and is situated between the towns of Stafford, Cannock, Lichfield and Uttoxeter. At the 2001 census the town's population was 22,724, (including the Brereton and Etchinghill wards). increasing to 24,033 at the 2011 Census. Rugeley is twinned with Western Springs, Illinois and in July 1962 the towns made telephone history on national television when the chairman of Rugeley Urban District Council made the first telephone call via the new Telstar satellite to the Mayor of Western Springs.

I can only think the recent 5* reviews have been written by family and friends of the landlord as our experience couldnât have been any different.Friendly staff? Are these the same staff who could be heard arguing and balling expletives at one another? The same drunk landlord who hides, leaves his wife to take the flack and threatens to call the police everytime somebody complains.Good food? They obviously didnât get the same re-heated rubbish we were expected to consume. That after the first meal was bought to guests at 2.30pm and others were still without meals at 4.00pm. No condiments on the table and dirty plates still left on the tables at the end of the party.Warm and clean environment? If you love cats youâll be right at home here. Especially if you like sharing your meal with them. Other than that the place is cold, dark and dirty.If your planning a party or even just an evening meal, give this place a wide birth.

Darren has just started doing 2 4 1 pizza on a Thursday so we decided to nip in tonight. The service was warm and friendly, the pub was cosy, the ambience was lovely, the drinks were spot on and most of all the pizza was to die for and unbelievable value. Canât recommend highly enough!! Thankyou for the fantastic review. Our pizzas certainly are a popular choice. We look forward to seeing again soon

We have eaten at the Plum Pudding for many years always with excellent food and service. However, since Guiseppe has retired, this restaurant has been going downhill. On our LAST visit, we were shown to a table and the waitress then decided to serve the group that arrived five minutes after us. Before we had even ordered our drinks or food the waitress listed off a lot of the menu items we have enjoyed previously that were not available due to mis management; her words. Then to be told we would have to have chips instead of sautéed potatoes. The reason was that they were busy during the previous evening and they had not re-stocked. I said that this was a pathetic excuse and we left without having either food or drink. The new team seem to be ruining the reputation and and ambience of The Plum Pudding.

Recently celebrated my daughters 21st Birthday meal here. The service before hand with the arranging and during the meal was superb, sometimes difficult when serving 21 people. The food was great as always. Thank you for making the start of her celebrations absolutely amazing. See you soon. X

Visited today with hubby and the in-laws having read so many good reviews on trip advisor. So glad we did.The Sunday lunch was delicious. Meat so tender you actually didnât need a knife. Varied selection of vegetables, perfectly cooked. Hubbys gammon steak was beautiful as was father in-laws steak. a few minor hiccups, cranberry sauce got forgotten, small error with the potatoes etc, nothing major. It was very busy so mistakes understandably happen. I would recommend calling to book as I booked via the internet which resulted in a table too small for 4 people to comfortably dine. Still that being said this did not dampen the meal which was superb. Will definitely return.It was lovely to meet you all yesterday and thank you for your lovely remarks about our food which I have passed on to the kitchen staff . 40 family members aged between 5 and 80 assembled at the Coach and Horses for an overdue get-together. Rose and her team attended to our every need. Nothing was too much trouble; kind, caring and efficient. Excellent food and service at a reasonable cost. Great atmosphere. We arrived early doors at 6.00 pm and the place filled up quickly. We received a warm welcome by all. The restaurant was well laid out and spotless. Cutlery and glasses squeaky clean. Very good menu selection at reasonable prices. Normally we find wine prices are over the top but here they were very competitive. Our order was taken promptly with a smile and delivery of the food was in good time and piping hot. The quality of food was top draw and accompanied by a good selection of fresh vegetables. The telephone rang out continuously with people making bookings.All in all a most enjoyable evening. Will be returning.

Our first visit and on a busy Saturday night. Table was booked for 20.30 but we didnât eat a thing until 21.45. Waitress was lovely and apologised and gave us a round of drinks on the house without us asking for anything which was very nice of her.Good things - lovely waitress, food was amazing, nice bustling atmosphere.Not so good things - Long wait, expensiveAnd whats the lettuce wedge all about ? Donât quite get that Love your review, Thank you for so honest comment and we are so sorry about wait, but Saturday night is really hard for us and we try make everyone happy. And the lettuce wedge originally came from an old America steak house back in 1950s. We've put our own twist on it, as it use to be served plain. The lettuce Wedge is a refreshing accompaniment that compliments the rich flavours of the steak.

Our waiter for the evening was brilliant, very friendly funny and attentive. Welcome from the minute we walked through the door, knowledge of dishes and service all very professional from the staff. Food amazing, great menu choices- couldnât fault any of it. Will definitely be back. Best meal we have eaten in a very long time! Not quite sure why we havenât been before? Many thanks !
