We arrived after a long walk at lunchtime and nearly all the outside tables were already taken, despite this, service was speedy and the food was fantastic. We ordered from the specials board and were pleasantly surprised to find walnuts, radishes and apple in our salads and an onion flan that was melt in the mouth delicious. Our experience was so enjoyable that we ended up there the next day for afternoon tea: the ginger cake did not disappoint.

This is a lovely space and is very comfortable. The food was lovely pub food. The beer and wine was good. There were plenty of staff on duty and we felt very welcome. Very close to the Porlock Caravan Park,

We ambled up and down Porlock high street looking for dinner and decided to come here, being attracted by its traditional air and no-nonsense menu, A very good decision. There was a no-nonsense lady inside who served us some excellent traditional English dishes, a pork loin roast and a gammon steak. The pork loin was accompanied by crisp crackling and roast potatoes. I opted for egg chips tomatoes and peas with the beloved gammon. Often chips are the Achilles heel of a restaurant, but these were perfectly browned, not over-thinly cut and they retained their freshness even as they cooled. A good full bodied house red and a bottle of Exmoor Gold were followed by two rich filter coffees. An excellent dinner for our last night on Exmoor - I would heartily recommend the Lapsewood for all lovers of no-nonsense.

We had walked from Minehead along the Coast Path and arrived here to find it full of similar walkers with their rucksacks! You sit in a lovely garden with splendid moorland views. The owner had put a water dispenser and glasses which was a nice touch. We had a cream tea and my wife, who is a bit of an expert, remarked at the quality of the jam and the cream. The scones were nicely warmed too.A thoroughly pleasant way to wind away an hour in a wonderful part on England.

I recently had a very good lunch at this small, homely cafe on the High Street, in the heart of Porlock Village. The place is small in size but the menu is not, and there is a special board of the day as well with different lunch dishes. Freshly prepared and cooked food. I could see my lunch being prepared from the table I was sat at. The homemade cakes and scones looked fresh and tasty as well. I got chatting to the couple next to my table, they had expected to be rushed as they had only ordered a pot of tea but they were not. I was pleased myself with the portion size, the very good prices and the good service.

Visited Horner Tea Gardens (again!) today, after a beautiful walk around the cliffs from North Hill in Minehead. Enjoyed a delicious cream tea in delightful settings in the glorious Bank Holiday Weekend sunshine! Tasty scones with cream and jam and a pot of tea... whatâs not to like?If I had one complaint? Maybe a jug of hot water to make the pot of tea go farther... other than that, it was perfect!

Popped in on my own with the dog. Staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. Food was just what I needed after a long walk.

I always like to start reviews positively so I will. The food was very tasty. However it. was utterly ruined by very high noise levels (I know it was a Friday night)Firstly may I start with thanking you for your positive comment on our food. Now to score us down on customer's talking I think is a little unfair. We do not have loud music - a token radio station is heard in the background. We do not have a juke box - the only sound you will hear is good old fashioned conversation and for that I will not apologise for. If however someone was using offensive language, my staff would obviously deal with but for general chit chat...â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦..I am not sure where you sat and to which Friday you visited, I am assuming within the last two weeks. On the 11th October we held our monthly quiz night which is advertised and brings in a lot of trade as money won is donated to charity and we have raised thousands of pounds over the last 13 years. If it was the Friday just gone, 18th then it was just a busier service with a few larger tables. If you were sat in the bar area, you could have asked to be moved to the restaurant area where there is more space, the decision would have been yours to make as we were not aware with an issue with your table.Maybe you will visit again, you have stated in a previous review for another restaurant, that it maybe a good idea to visit in the winter months when it would be quieter and less people around.

Please, please go in. This is an unprepossessing place from the outside but the food is outstanding. Fresh sandwiches are the freshest Iâve ever had anywhere. The bread was awesome, home made I assume. The fillings were generous and exceedingly fresh. I had the choice of teabag or loose leaf tea and there was quite a choice too. Add on friendly service, low prices, an attractive room and you have a winner.

Lovely Traditional Tearoom, close to the centre of Porlock, serving breakfast until 11.30am, light lunches, cakes, cream teas including an option of our lovely Whortleberry jam, savoury teas with West Country cider chutney and our special cakestand teas, e
What a lovely, peaceful little set-up for the two of us and our dog. The room was bright and airy and well-equipped with all you need for a few nights' stay. The full enclosed garden was an excellent bonus as it allowed our little dog to make the most of her stay too! The bed was very comfortable too. Loved the addition of home-made shortbread/flapjack daily! The breakfast was the best we have ever had in a B&B, with everything cooked the perfection and plenty of it. Regrettably we didn't visit the tea room for tea/cake as we were out all day during our stay but the cakes were baked fresh every morning and looked beautiful.Thankyou for writing such a lovely review, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your break with us, and that you found our studio so comfortable. We pride ourselves on our freshly cooked breakfast and our homemade cakes and scones , and are so delighted that you enjoyed your breakfast so much , we very much hope to welcome you back in the future.
