We are a small, family run independent pub restaurant. We pride ourselves on serving the highest quality homemade food with great service. Families are welcome at all times and we have a separate children's menu and family dining area.
Called in yesterday for a Sunday lunch. Me and the Mrs had in mind a proper roast/veg dinner and had heard good things about the Royal Oak. Having read some of the previous reviews itâs clear drinks options can be troublesome and they had no coke or diet coke which surprised us greatly. However, the food I have to say was very good. Option of a 3 course Sunday Lunch at £9.95 is great value and we both had different starters (pate for her / york puds for him), different mains (pie for her / roast beef for him) and different puds (choc fudge cake for her and apple pie for him). All 6 options served were timely, hot and very tasty with really good sized portions. The service was good with pleasant staff in bar and food area. I have to say very tasty and excellent value for money. Will definitely consider a return visit.

Bar 42 offers a unique eating and drinking experience to the people of Horbury, Ossett and the surrounding areas. Since opening we quickly became known as 'the place to be' for young and old alike. These are exciting times at 42! We have existing great va
A little bit tired looking inside, could do with updating. Other than that bar staff ok and plenty of choice.

I've been here on several occasions previously, though albeit not for a year or so. On a rare day off, I decided to treat my wife to lunch as we'd always enjoyed going there in the past (it's the other side of Wakefield to where we live, so a visit necessitates a 16-mile round trip). We arrived today to find the place not too busy, so were seated immediately by a pleasant young lady. The table we sat at initially was very tatty, and we were in a corner, so we moved to a more central position. As I approached the counter to order, a man walked back to his table and the young lady at the counter held out an outstretched palm towards me (which I consider rude in itself), saying "Just a minute. I'm still serving that gentleman". I let that go without comment and ordered our food. The lady became more civil from that point on, and, to her credit, checked with me about my needs when I asked for gluten free bread. Now, I probably wouldn't have mentioned the above, thinking that I was being a bit over-sensitive and out of touch, if the meals had been great (as they had always been on previous visits), but when they came, both looked pitifully small when it's noted that they cost approximately £10 each. Also, my plate was cold, so what food there was did not stay very warm. I like to be as fair and honest as possible in my reviews. If I have any issues, I always raise them with the staff at the time of my visit to give them the opportunity to address my concerns. In other words, I don't pretend that everything is fine, then vent my spleen on Trip Advisor. So, when a very nice waitress came to clear our table and asked if everything had been okay, we politely told her what we thought. i.e. That the portions served did not reflect value for money. She was very understanding and went to speak to the chef, returning shortly afterwards to inform us that the chef had stated that "the portions have always been the same size" (though a cursory glance around showed that other diners had much larger amounts on their plates, and my wife had had the same meal previously - open steak sandwich, and where before she had had it on a large teacake, now it was on a small slice of bread). The inference was that we were simply awkward customers. Well, chef, you may be right or you may not, but I wish I'd taken a photo now of my gluten free pastrami sandwich as evidence. So, I'm afraid the only people we were at all impressed with were the lady who originally seated us and the waitress who spoke to the chef. I really don't like putting less than positive reviews on this site, but the response of the powers-that-be at the Seed Room was very disappointing.

Bear Kitchen. Fast Food with Attitude. Honest, ethical and quality fast food We have a small number of eat in-tables available, as well as an extensive takeaway menu that is available to collect or be delivered (through the Deliveree app).
Ordered a takeaway from here last night and I was really disappointed with what we got. We ordered the vegan nachos as my friend is veggie, these were really soggy and not a good portion size for £8. We both ordered a kebab, me the Americana and her the Mexican one. My American one was nice, I paid extra for chicken and got loads. I also paid extra for haloumi and got one piece, I wasnât really impressed with that as I expected at least three pieces. I wouldnât pay the price I did for just one piece of haloumi. My friend paid for extra falafel on her kebab, but this was missing when it arrived. She also paid extra for haloumi and just got one piece. The bread that the kebab was in was dry and tasteless. Read lots of good reviews about burgers and ribs, so maybe thatâs where we went wrong and should have ordered a burger.

Visited on a Tuesday evening. There was plenty of customers and a nice atmosphere. We booked for 8pm and were seated soon after our arrival. There was a good choice of dishes on the menu and some excellant specials. I had the cod loin in a mild chilli sauce and could not fault it. The service was spot on. Not rushed but timely. A wonderful relaxing meal for my wife and I. The free starters was an extra bonus.

We visited here one Friday evening last month. We turned up hungry without a reservation but they fitted us in, despite being very busy, by opening up another part of the restaurant. They really went out of their way to be accommodating and were very friendly. Once seated the food was .... delicious! Traditional English and one of those menus where everything is suddenly your favourite making it very hard to choose. Also i tried some of the local ale my husband ordered and even I (a wine drinker) thought it was wonderful.I would recommend this pub and would definitely return when next in the area.HiThank you for taking the time to leave a lovely review! We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed both our wonderful food and real ale. See you again soon!

Home made bread and home made desserts coupled with excellent service what more can you want! I took my elderly mum for lunch this week. We both chose 2 of the specials on the board. Roast lamb and Yorkshire Pudding for myself and Chili Con Carne with rice for my Mum. Washed down with a glass of Pinot what a perfect day...
