Wonderful family meal with my brother & his fiancée, over from Chesterfield, and our son.The restaurant was already over half full when we arrived just after 7pm and filled up totally by 8pm.Bro. and his lady chose from the impressive vegan menu while us carnivores pondered over the extensive array of options at our disposal.Mrs D and I eat here three or four times a year and have never been disappointed but tonight the food was especially good. Every dish was packed full of flavour. From the vegan menus, they chose bread & olives to share followed by Mediterranean vegetable enchiladas & vegan pizza with mixed veg & vegan cheese. The latter, we were informed was the best they have had anywhere.Son devoured a 12 garlic bread to start before plumping for the chicken breast with applewood smoked cheddar. Both excellent.Mrs D chose salt & pepper squid "gorgeous" and the excellent pork pancetta.I, reviving my French holiday tastes, had an extremely tasty and perfectly cooked confit duck followed by a fabulous rump steak, cooked to perfection at medium-rare and packed full of flavour. Even the little salad side-dish was lovely as were the skins-on potato wedges.Vegan black currant crumble, vegan ice-cream, rhubarb & ginger crumble and lemon posset were all divine desserts too.Having eaten in France with their excellent full flavoured food, we are often disappointed when we come home at our bland English fare, but not last night (or last Wednesday when the two of us popped here for tea to suss out the vegan options) - it was simply fabulous.Service was excellent too and we relaxed in the lovely restaurant atmosphere for over three hours as the "chef brought his A game" tonight.

After a 15km walk it was a perfect place to stop to warm up, get a tasty meal and recharge. The puddings were especially devine! Good selection of dishes for mains. Would go back.

Got to say, the woman behind the bar was a tad abrupt! That saud, the menu is varied and the food really, really nice. We had steak and ale pie, burger and salmon - all home-cooked and clean plates all round. Parking right outside. Great value.

Visited Saturday night for an evening meal with friends, the whole experience was perfect. Top class service, very friendly, polite staff , a lovely environment to spend an evening in.The food was lovely, we had the fillet steaks and they were cooked perfectly, the peppercorn sauce was delightful. Good size portions, in fact after a starter and main meal there was no room for dessert. It is truly a delightful place to eat , and I would highly recommend, we eat out frequently and this is a place we will definitely re visit.

This is a great cafe on the beach at Haverigg. They serve filter and instant coffee and a wide range of teas (including lots of different herb teas) as well as sandwiches, paninis, toasties, jacket potatoes and full meals all served with fresh salads or coleslaw. The mirror shows the latest offers of the day. There are discounts for pensioners and several high chairs for toddlers. There are vegetarian breakfast options too. This cafe caters for everyone. There is a toilet block across the road and plenty of free parking opposite. This is one very friendly place where everything is freshly made - so please don't expect instant food! It is worth waiting for.

This was the first time of visiting this restaurant, and what a lovely place in terms of decor. Staff appeared friendly, but here s the thing, well three actually.....Firstly, the portion sizes are small...it would be better to just do a standard plate and leave it at that.....Secondly, the service was slow and, because there was a reliance on young people, the level of importance placed on âlooking afterâ tables just wasnât there.......there is a need to train them....the delay between courses was too much,Thirdly, if you have customers who have booked a table then at least make sure that the menu can be served. We had a table at 1pm, but the dessert menu was severely depleted by the time we were ready to order. So, thatâs It was disappointing!

Came here after work for the takeaway burger and chips deal. We stayed for a pint whilst we were waiting. Good tasting beer in nice authentic settings. The food was amazing, the burger meat was obviously quality and tasted amazing and the chips were just beautiful. Would recommend this to everyone.

A warm and welcoming real ale pub, wine and cafe bar in a beautiful part of the southwest Lakes. The Punch Bowl is a laid-back, country Inn in the best traditions and we'll always try to accommodate our customers wishes...if you want something...there's n
We were camping and it was raining hard so decided to escape to a pub for a meal. The pub is beautiful inside with a lovely friendly atmosphere. Very dog friendly. There is a limited menu which I think is a good thing that places focus on what they do well. The sharing platter starter was delicious. The mains - steak for me and steak and ale pie for the husband were good just not quite five stars. Just a bit of a lack of gravy in the pie and no veg with the steak. The sticky toffee pudding was also delicious.

Converted 17th Century town mill with the original waterwheel still intact in centre of pub. The venue has a beautiful cask ale bar (CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2011-19) with eight hand pulls serving a variety of Cumbrian, Lancastrian and national ales. We ar
My husband and I came here for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed a couple of drinks outside on the upstairs terrace initially, which was lovely, then ate in the bar area downstairs.Food (3 courses) was amazing - especially the scotch egg! Service was prompt and overall it was a lovely evening. Really recommend! Hi 254alia, thank you for taking the time to leave such a great review, and congratulations on your anniversary! We're so pleased to hear that yourself and your husband enjoyed your wedding anniversary at The Mill at Ulverston. We're delighted with your feedback, and hope to see you again very soon.
