Step back in time, to the roaring twenties! Mervyn & Deborah welcome you to the red chair cafe. A perfect spot in Launceston for coffee, light lunches and even a chance to browse some unique oriental knot jewellery
Set against an excellent art deco surround this is a lovely little café offering good food and great personal service. As a Coeliac I have often been frustrated at the lack of or limited availability of gluten free food in establishments such as this but here there is a plentiful supply of food and cakes to satisfy every taste.Even better, prices are more than competitive. Definitely going back.PS: Try the smoothies, they are to die for!Dear Steve D, Thank you for this kind review. Like you our joint owner is a Coeliac and it is our mission to offer as much of our standard menu and counter cakes as a gluten free option with our imposing a customer surcharge. Glad you like our smoothies. they are a refreshing and healthy pick up at times when fatigue starts to creep in. Being operated and staffed by the owners in a small venue all helps us to offer our customers value for money.

A traditional family-friendly pub which is also our village "local". We welcome all. The pub is in a converted police station and courtroom, hence the name. There are still abrs over 2 small windows in the main bar as these were the old police cells. Wide
Fantastic location and the entrance/garden is welcoming. Large car park.A bit dated inside and could probably do with a toilet refurb. But this is a nice friendly village pub, full of character. Menu not too large or fussy, simple honest food.I opted for a meal that was no longer on the menu and this was not an issue.Friendly bar staff and Finn our waiter couldnât do enough for us.Will definitely return when on business in the area again.

Certainly do not cater for business travellers Small boiling hot pokey room overlooking the main road finally got a reasonable room in a annexe across the road Dinner was a 15 quid raw cheeseburger and chips will certainly be finding a takeaway tomorrow

Driving to Cornwall we need to stop somewhere for a meal and a little shopping. Well this place does it all .Although it was nearly lunchtime we decided to have a full English breakfast.Very nice indeed and a good price also, our waitress was full of smiles and attentive Siobhan was brilliant 10/10 for her.We then went to the farm shop for some bits and pieces and a few treats. Lovely selection of foods and local too.So well worth stopping off .Dear firemanfield822,Thank you for your kind review and I am so pleased you enjoyed your recent visit to both the restaurant and farm shop.We hope to see you again when you are next in the area.Kind regardLaura MounceManager and family member

Had the five course taster menu on the first night as part of a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. Absolutely first class - every course had a lovely twist to it, and there is obviously a commitment to using the best ingredients. Every one of us returned sparkling clean plates to the kitchen - clear demonstration that the food was enjoyed. Having seen the menu and specials board we decided to eat in the hotel again on our second night - something we ordinarily would never do in an attempt to try different places. So glad we did - again, a menu with plenty of variety from the more traditional to the more adventurous - never seen Bobotee (South African cottage pie) on a menu before - and everything stunning. The chef clearly uses the best ingredients and then caters for a wide range of tastes. One of our best meals of all time. Have to mention the really friendly staff too - they were rushed off their feet both nights (a packed restaurant and bar on a midweek - a very good sign), but always were friendly, chatty and clearly happy in their job. First class. Hello Thank you for writing such a lovely review! I will certainly pop this one on our notice board for all the staff to see. the month has continued to be mad busy... looking forward to September now.... Many thanks againRobert purveyor of a fine Bobotee it seems!

Stayed here for a couple of nights when looking for a base to see friends and visit Padstow. Nestled in the rolling hills it really is in a stunning and peaceful location. We ate an excellent dinner on the first night. The food there is some of the best we ate on our entire holiday! There was a lovely buzzing atmosphere too because it was the pub quiz night! Itâs obviously a very popular spot! We were really well looked after at both breakfasts too! You feel properly at home and like nothing is too much bother! We will definitely be back!So glad you enjoyed your stay with us and your food experience. It seems so different to the what shall I call them, lets be kind- the reviewers, who left the review the day after you. Its as if you came to two different venues! The one you came to is the one we are very proud of and happy to have won awards for our food! see you next time you are in Cornwall.
