The patch is a friendly beer cafe, with great food and some amazing drinks on offer. Great breakfasts, sandwiches and pintxos with craft beers on offer as well as wine and other drink offerings.
Upon arriving in Lewes, we parked up and within seconds passed this cafe. A quick surveying of the menu lured us in and we were thrilled to see that you could go up to the counter and ask for a sandwich to be made to your liking. I plumped for an egg baguette and my partner went for a bacon baguette. I tend to prefer the slightly healthier option whereas my partner will usually opt for the one with the most fat or calories. The service was very friendly and awash with smiles. One of the staff came out to recommend a suitable light beer to accompany my partner's baguette. The bread was fantastic, bouncy and fluffy and fresh and there was plenty of filling inside. We both agreed it was a fantastic lunch and a wonderful find. We shall definitely be coming back here when we come to Lewes again.

A traditional pub serving great food and award winning ales
We've eaten here before; my husband is devoted to Harvey's beer, so whenever we return to Sussex, this is where we aim for. However, I was really disappointed this time.On the plus side: the beer is wonderful, the service was OK, toilets spotless, nice surroundings;BUTThe food, although cooked on the premises (ie not boiled in the bag) wasn't hot. I had sausage, mash, vegetables and gravy; the sausages and mash were hot, the carrots OK, but the broccoli, kale and cabbage we stone cold! Really unacceptable.No-one came to check if our food was OK.Might well have to try somewhere else next time, which makes me very sad.

First visit. Pretty country garden and shabby-chic china, etc. Staff very, very slow to clear tables. Paid for tea and cake but then had to wait at least 20 minutes before it was brought out. Cakes delicious, home-made and unusual flavours, with several gluten-free options. Dog-friendly too. No problem with wasps, as mentioned in earlier reviews: plenty of wasp traps around.

This has been a regular family favourite over many years and, remarkably, the quality has not only been maintained but if anything improved of late. Service is friendly without being pushy. Great advice on wine choice including a little taster led us to choose a drop that we might otherwise not have ventured to try. It's not cheap but not crazily expensive either for good quality food.

pub in front of Saint Michael's
Went in for an early evening drink on a Sunday. Nice atmosphere and very friendly regulars to chat to. Two bars - one quite traditional and the other geared to bar games and sport.

I always remembered this place as a run of the mill town centre pub, but The Rights of Man now has a separate restaurant and a hidden away roof terrace where I had lunch. The food is very good if a little pricey but did not disappoint.

Recommended on Trip and not wanting to eat in the hotel we decided to come to this little country pub and the recommendations on Trip were truly justified. We would have wanted to give an excellent but to do so everything has to be right and on this occasion perhaps by reason of the large number of customers the service level was not quite good enough to reach an excellent standard we would have wished for. Overall it was very good and we will return should we come to this particular area again.

We serve classic English breakfast and brunch with authentic Caribbean dinner and lunch.
Londoners wandering around Lewes on a september saturday looking for somewhere to eat with wheelchair access found Irma's tucked away at the far end of the high street.Situated on the corner of several streets we sat outside and watched the world go by.We were told that there would be a bit of a wait for our food. Around twenty minutes didn't seem excessive and it was well worth waiting for.A very good reason for us to visit Lewes again. Our very best wishes to Irma's owners and staff.Hi sigrid oThank you very much for your 5* review and great feedback - we appreciate it very much.Do come back and see us again if you find yourselves wandering around in this neck of the woods again. :o)Best wishes
