This was our third visit to the Crab House and we would definitely recommend and go again. The experience of smashing and picking our own crab is great and the location is rustic and relaxed. Even at lunchtimes off season it is busy, so best to book in advance. The only reason not to give 5* this time is that we felt the 28% price increase (11.25 to 14.50) for the half crab since six months ago was quite steep - and the menu online is still not updated. Other prices also seemed much higher. Oysters were excellent. Would also be good to see vegan dessert other than sorbet. Service was friendly and very good.

As a local, I've visited this cafe a few times now. They have a selection of cakes, homemade milkshakes, smoothies, sandwiches and main meals. The cafe itself is very pretty and clean, with an interesting little courtyard garden full of sculptures that you can also sit in. My only comment for improvement would be more vegan options on the menu please.

The Sugar loaf is a traditional little cafe situated on portland. The food here will literally take you back to when you used to live at home and your mum was cooking! The food was great here and will definitely be coming back! Very homely and warming atmosphere, we were greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome. The cafe itself is small and quaint and decorated in vibrant blues and yellows! It was also very clean! The cafe has a huge range of homemade foods on offer to take home as well such as jams, onions etc. 10/10

Pub right on the front so you can look out on Chesil beach while you eat. Was impressed that the staff took our order after 2.30pm as we were really hungry and tired after walking round Portland. The food was quick and we enjoyed it. Reasonable priced and good choice on menu. Worth a visit.

We found this fantastic pub whilst on holiday last year and decided to go again this year. After driving over from Bournemouth (it was a long drive!) we were not disappointed. A warm welcome from the friendly staff, and our drinks order was swiftly brought to the table along with menus. After making our food choice, and being asked all the usual questions (chips/veg/salad etc), we sat back to enjoy our surroundings. Other diners were enjoying their meals and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. Unfortunately two male diners decided that they were not happy with the food or service, being quite vocal and, we thought, rather offensive towards the young lady who was trying her best to meet their demands. When the two males walked out the rest of the diners all commented on their unreasonable behaviour! Our food arrived and was cooked perfectly and was great portion sizes. Even though we were quite full after our main course, we had to have desserts - they were so good it would have been rude not to.If you want silver service and small portions go to Claridges. If you want good quality home cooking in a warm and welcoming environ, go to the Eight Kings.

Came here to visit Portland Bill and see the lighthouse first. Parked in car park, £1 for 2 hours during the week. Had a great walk around then sat outside in the sunshine and ate an amazing crab sandwich £10 , and worth every penny. Cup of real tea too. Had a look around the gift shop which had some great gifts. Staff all very friendly. Will sit inside the restaurant next time. Saw that they do roasts on sundays.

After an organised beach clean, Quiddles had reserved a table for us. Painted tables and chairs in lovely bright colours. We sat outside with a cold drink and scrumptious slice of homemade Victoria Sponge Cake and others had a savoury lunch. Service was very friendly and helpful. View along a now clean Chesil Beach and in the Cove was amazing! Gorgeous, warm, sunny weather and a super place to chill!

Went for Sunday lunch with friends. Although this is a small place, the tables are set out well and the welcome is very friendly. We had the carvery and the system to go up for food ensured you werenât waiting long. The quality of food was excellent with a great choice of vegetables. I will certainly go again next time Iâm on Portland.
