We came here for my husbands birthday. There was a card for him when we arrived, which was a lovely touch.Good atmosphere, despite being nearly empty. Excellent service. Food was amazing, good choice and beautifully presented. Each dish was a surprise, well presented and tasted delicious. We will be back!Hi Penguin, in my opinion its the little touches that separate you from the rest! Obviously you need to get the fundamentals right first, which it sounds like we did? Thank you for your positive feedback. Best wishes, Joel

Had a meal for 6 on Bank holiday Monday.Unfortunately 2 steaks that were ordered medium rare were served well done. However, they were replaced with apologies and without question with 2 perfect steaks and to my surprise,we weren't charged for these items. All of the other meals were perfect and we had a great time.Sometimes its about how you correct a problem and the Talbot deals with it perfectly and I would"nt hesitate in returning.

Beautiful 16th century pub with 4 en suite B&B rooms, local beers, private dinning area and a newly refurbished restaurant. A perfect place to have food and cosy up by our original fire place Open everyday. Food times 12-3, 6-9 Tuesday to Saturday & 12-6
The fish and chips here are spot on, light crispy batter, large piece of fish, chunky chips with minted pea puree (not mushy peas) and good quality tartar sauce. The service is always charming and the surroundings a mix of the new and old, spacious restaurant area at the back overlooks the cricket ground and some tables on the rear patio, even more tables outside at the front. There are some specials on a chalk board which are quite expensive, we haven't sampled the sandwich menu yet. There's a private dining room at the side which would suit a small family or other gathering.

Built in 1840 the pub overlooks the rolling Sussex countryside. Locally sourced beers, cider and sparkling wine always available as well as a high quality seasonal menu using local produce. Light bites, pub classics are ever present. The lovely front gard
We have been here many times before, but don't think we will be going again. We originally sat outside since it was sunny and menu looked rather limited so went to order soup and dessert only to be told we couldn't order dessert then but had to wait till we finished the main ...We moved inside but the place was full of flies, they said they had 'sprayed that morning' but obviously had no effect on the fly population. One went in my coffee so I just left it.A long wait to get our desserts, it's not as if they were hot.Overall, £40 for two soups, two desserts, two soft drinks and two coffees seemed a bit steep for what we received. £6 for a soup ??

Really good menu and specials for the hearty appetite or those wanting a lighter bite. Plenty of choice from burgers, sausages, fish & chips to salads and specials. Very friendly service and a good choice of beers etc. Nice inside and also lovely outside of the weather allows. Would highly recommend the burger and the amazing âchipsâ which were more like roast potato wedges with a tasty tomato relish. Caesar salad also excellent. Great timing for a business lunch. If only we had room for pudding!

Went on a Saturday night in a party of four. The restaurant was part full. Decor simple, modern and unfussy. The menu had some attractive choices including vegetarian options. These were adapted for vegans by removing elements, rather than these being vegan dishes by design, although our vegans still enjoyed them. There was a delicious little free taster of which I could have easily eaten a full plate. Food was very good quality and service attentive. Itâs not cheap but the food is of the standard of more expensive places, plus Lindfield is a pretty village and parking so much easier/less stressful than most of the local towns. Would definitely go again. I know they do a full vegan menu on other occasions. This review would have been a 5 if there had been a vegan choice that was less of a compromise.
