Came here the other night. The food was good for the price, not to expensive and a reasonable varied menu. The waitress staff were very friendly. However, it took about an hour for our food to arrive, I'm not sure if it was busy, all 6 tables were booked through. No reason given. Some alarm went off have way through meal, took quite a while to turn it off. All in all an experience. It certainly not the best restaurant in Dulvington but it's worth a visit if you've been to the others.

The title just says 'Dulverton' so I will comment about Dulverton itself.Despite being home to only about 1500 people, Dulverton ('Gateway to Exmoor' and national park HQ) is really a little town rather than a village. It has a selection of pubs, cafes, food shops, various other shops including hardware and country clothing, and the small but interesting Exmoor visitor centre (and public library next door). Most of this is in or just off the central 'square'. It has the feel of a small market town, with lots of activity drawing in people from the surrounding villages. Not by any means just a tourist centre, though it's well worth visiting and a good base for walks into the surrounding countryside - e.g. follow the River Barle out to Tarr Steps (6 miles) and on to Withypool (10), or take a shorter walk through the woods around the first loop in the river to Marsh Bridge, then back along the road on the other side. I live about 45 minutes' drive away and this is a favourite spot for starting walks, bringing visitors or just as a place to drop in on a motorbike ride. There's a good choice of refreshments - e.g. I can recommend the Copper Kettle, Mortimers and the Tantivy, as well as the Bridge. I may even move there!

We stayed in a nearby holiday cottage & after our first visit managed to eat there most days. Everything home made & really delicious. The vegetable soup served with a cheese scone was outstanding. Lovely setting, friendly owners & staff & plenty of beautiful & tempting gifts & crafts to browse while waiting.

If I could give this terrible excuse of an establishment no stars I would. Absolutely disgustingly rude staff who would rather keep their custom close knit than accept willing and paying customers. Me and a fair few of my friends we're going to pop in for a few drinks and food after attending a close friends funeral in Bampton. We were all told promptly to F off and one of us was called the C word. Nobody did anything to deserve this other than parking in their car park. Do not give these people your time of day because they do not want it.First and foremost we would like to send out sincere condolences to the family of the young man who passed away- we do not know these people as they do not frequent the pub, our first experience of the people attending his wake was a convoy of cars driving into a private car park belonging to the anchor pub out of those cars came a lot of young people drinking cans and flagons of cider, quiet daunting, one car proceeded to drive around the car park with a person laying on the bonnet and another person taking his clothes off. When approached we tried to exlain to these people that they were in fact parking in a private area one on the two of the people became quiet abusive under the influence of drink thus was no intention of coming in the pub and even if they did we would not have served them The Anchor Inn by its normal reviews is a family pub and does not tolerate people who obviously cant hold their drink. I think it was a sad way to say goodbye to a friend by disrespecting the community where he + his family lived, your noise was heard well into the early hours.

Like the last comment...I agree , this is not a great place to visit and wonât be going back. Took ages to order, or get the attention of staff, and wasnât particularly busy, service very slow ..food ok, but served with dirty cutlery and chipped crockery which puts me off completely . Eating area is stifling , with tables crammed together, public areas looks generally tired and in need of basic maintenance..nothing that a good manager couldnât sort, itâs such a shame as it is in a good location .

We visited on a bank holiday weekend and the area was very busy with visitors. My wife and I both chose sandwiches which were tasty and enjoyable. The surroundings were lovely and we sat outside in the ample seating. There were bean bags available if you wanted them. There was a good choice of beers. Staff were very friendly. This place does cater for dogs.

The Bear is a 17th Century coaching inn that reflects Wiveliscombe's heritage. The Bear is a traditional English pub where the atmosphere is friendly and convivial, where young and old and families mix. Dogs on leads are welcome in the pub and outside pat
Had a really lovely family meal including lovely home made gluten free pizza. It was busy in the pub but we were made very welcome and didnât have to wait long. Had the most amazing ploughmanâs with scotch eggs and balsamic onions. Would thoroughly recommend and will definitely go back when in the area. Good choice at reasonable prices. Lovely outside seating area.
