Went here for lunch with my husband and mother in law. We were seated quickly without a wait. The server, Lynn, answered any questions we had regarding the menu and checked that everything was ok during the meal. All 3 of us had something different and thoroughly enjoyed our choices. I had the chicken bacon and avocado burger. My mother in law had the fillet steak stroganoff and hubby had the surf and turf platter. We were also offered extra chips/fries. We then had desserts of crumble, black forest sundae and chocolate bomb. All were delicious. Will definitely visit again.

This is a must if you're in Wolvo, well if your within the Black country you have most likely already bin loads of times as it's a real "Bostin"pub. If you are even remotely nostalgic about steam railroad stuff you'll spend ages looking around the pub.If you like top notch ale and grub you may well never want to leave.Coal fires, cracking beers, great local food and lovely folk.Wolvo's hidden gem.

Traditional pub food along with some new twists, friendly and welcoming
Poor service, awful sirloin, full cheap oil chips, when mentioned to waitress she replied ill tell the butcher not the professional answer i was waiting for. My dad said no can you tell the chef... Still waiting for a response!!Don't think she wants to be there. Wait to long for drinks etc etc. She was not impressed with us mentioning the sirloin surely she should of been more hospitable towards. Oh sorry but a smile wouldn't go a miss. The Hungry Bistro is an independent eatery in Wolverhampton City Centre serving up homemade British and travel inspired dishes. Do you like fresh home cooked food at reasonable prices? Do you hate being bamboozled by long menus of microwave food masquerad
We arrived at 5.35pm and was asked if we were going to the theatre. We said yes it starts at 7pm, the pate was unavailable so we had a soup and I think it is artinya a fried rice dish. I would like to say that there was a table for 4 already in and a table finishing the meal. No other tables were occupied until after 6pm. We waited an age for it and when it came the rice was very well done and greasy. We then waited until 6.35 whenafter asking several times the fried chicken burger came with a heaped teaspoon of pink coleslaw and burnt fried potato slices at this point I cancelled my dish and we shared the very very poor burger. We were told they only had a very small fryer which may I add desperately needed the oil changing. The staff who we have always found to be pleasant just shrugged and pulled faces in front of us. Well Hungry Bistro you are one of many eating places around that area we will not be returning.Hi Jo,Thanks for your feedback. I notice you've eaten here before, if you thought the burger was "quantity over quality" why on earth would you order it again? May I ask where your reviews for your previous visits are? You, and your guest arrived at our absolute cut-off for pre theatre diners - having been told that when you were seated, it should have been relatively clear that your food would come out pretty close to the bone.We also advise people book a tables for pre-theatre and then we can advise a suitable time based on our other diners for the evening. We are not a fast food restaurant, never have been, never will be. So staring down the waiting staff will not speed you food up, it's just irritating. With regards to your paraphrasing, you were informed that as almost everyone had ordered the southern-fried chicken burger there was a slight wait on the fryer. I'm perfectly happy with the size of our fryer, as deep-fried food is not the main cuisine we sell.We found it quite petty and unnecessary when you refused the second dish for your table, as it was ready at the same time, but as I hadn't had time for lunch I did appreciate the freshly cooked fish dish. FYI, I managed to eat it with plenty of time to get to the theatre (had I have been going). However, at this point I would like to apologise for the lack of chicken liver parfait, our butcher hasn't been able to source chicken livers, ergo, we haven't been able to make any. ¯\_(ã)_/¯ Regards,Richard

Every community should have a pub like this. From the minute you walk in the door , the staff are excellent.Chris and laurna have really bought this place out the doldrums and its a joy to eat and drink here. The selection of ales is tremendous and a good price to boot. The food is always spot on.I ask you ,where can you get 2 large wines , 2 pints of ale and 2 cooked meals for £27.I had chicken tikka with rice and chips while my wife had cheese and bacon burger, which she couldnât eat it all .They accommodate dietary requirements which bigger chains seem to get it wrong,We could recommend so much on this menu I would be writing a lot more.As you probably can tell we love this place a lot so I had to share this with you I advise to book at busy periods also Hi AndyThank you for your great review. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Many thanksChris, Laurna and all the team at the Horse and Jockey
