Following the film in the small comfortable cinema, we ate in the restaurant. Our allocated table by the window was beneath the air conditioning vent and we were cold! The staff were helpful and understanding and quickly moved us to another table. The meal was reasonable but the drinks list, in particular the wine list, was inadequate with a very limited choice and was grossly overpriced. At approximately £40 per head our meal was not value for money.

In the historic and beautiful town of Battle (remember the Battle of Hastings, which was fought between Harold the Saxon king and William the Conqueror in 1066, in which William won and built the fabulous Battle Abbey!) stands 'Cut & Grill' within the bus
Visited here last night as we were told that they could cater for Gluten free. Well all i can say was it was amazing. We had one person in our party that needed Gluten Free Food. Nothing was too much trouble for them regarding her dietary needs, the Gluten Free options were amazing, almost all of their menu could be adapted & she said her meal was delicious. As for the rest of us, we were all equally happy with the food choices etc. The staff, big shout out to Sian, were lovely & welcoming. Only one word can describe our time at Cut & Grill last night, & thats WOW. Will definitely be returning. Prices are reasonable, food lovely & staff excellent. If you go here you wont be disappointed.

Well I am disgusted by the way myself and my husband have just been treated by a male member of staff today He was so rude!!!!!We had been out for the day for our 29th wedding anniversary and thought we would drop in to the pub for a drink, and if possible a bit of lunch.? We were asked if weâd booked my husband said we hadnât but any chance of a table. We were told no chance they were fully booked.OK we thought we will have a drink anyway. We had our dog with us(dog friendly pub??) We were told we would be in the way as they were busy and we would only be allowed a drink outside in the garden !! The attitude and manner in which we were spoken too was completely unacceptable. Needless to say we left and went to another more hospitable establishment. Donât think we would consider The Squirrel Inn ever again.

I have eaten here before and thought I would take a client here for lunch. Walked in only 9 people in the pub asked for a table got a stern "Have you booked?" not a good start. They finally offered us a table and literally left us. After about 10 mins I got up to get a drink and was told they come to us - No they didn't. Basically we just sat there feeling awkward . There were 3 of them behind the bar so not short staffed. Decided other establishments deserved our custom more than this so we left. Can highly recommend the Queens head at Hawkhurst had a delicious meal there with a warm welcome.Hi Hubbjay,Apologies for not responding sooner, but I needed to ask my staff who were on when you arrived, if they remembered you, and they did.We have to ask people if they have booked for two reasons, one we don't want to give them a table allocated to someone else, and two if you have booked we can cross you out of our diary and show you to your reserved table, I just don't believe you were spoken to sternly, why would we?You also may not have realised that although there were only a few other tables occupied, you did all come it at the same time, so obviously we deal with each table in turn, and my staff were not standing around behind the bar, they were managing orders from the tables that were there before you, so I'm not sure a 10 minute wait is correct, but things can get distorted after the event.I will agree with you on the fact the Queens Inn in Hawkhurst is worth recommending though, assuming that is where you meant.Kindest regards,James

We came across this little cafe during a rain storm. It looked like any other greasy spoon from the outside but did the most amazing Thai food. The lady serving/cooking said she was Thai so obvious knew what she was doing. The selection is quite small, about 3 starters and 5 main courses but was plenty enough to choose from as we could anything with King Prawn ,chicken or vegetarianDear Thai Foodie, Thanks for your kind words. We will be adding additional items to the Thai menu soon but if there is anything you would like to see included please let us know. We can make the food as spicy or mild as you like.
