A hidden gem in the heart of leafy Sunningdale, The Tablespoon offers a relaxed atmosphere with the restaurant & secret garden buzzing from early till late. With contemporary twists on traditional British dining, and fusion dishes, we serve an eclectic ra
The Tablespoon offers a truly international mix of Western and Eastern dishes, from Burgers, cornfed chicken, and fish & chips to samosas, curries, and teriyaki glazed sesame tuna. However, the problem with such a wide range of cuisines is that itâs almost impossible to pay justice to all their individualities. The Tablespoon is no exception. For example, the chilli paneer, which I was assured to be very spicy, turned out to be completely devoid of chilli. It tasted good in a soulfoody way, more like a ratatouille with paneer, only without the mediterranean herbs. If itâs meant to be that way it should better be named bellpepper paneer. After I mentioned that to the waitress, I got kind of overcompensated by tons of chilli in my dumbay ki nihari, almost as if the cook had thought ok, now Iâm gonna show him. On the other hand, essential ingredients were missing, like fresh coriander or cumin. The tender lamb shank was not cut into morsels but served whole in deep a bowl of thinnish liquid, which made I wonder how it was meant to be eaten - as gravy it was way too much for the rice that came with it, and for a stew or a soup it was too hot and, sorry, too nondescript. The sesame tuna was good, maybe a bit too salty, while some of that salt could have been put to good use in the rather watery potato mash that came with the cornfed chicken. When I settled the bill they kindly offered to drop the paneer, but that wouldnât have been fair as I had more or less finished it. I should also mention here that service in general was very friendly and very fast.If fusion was the concept behind this way of cooking one should keep in mind that this means combining the idiosyncracies of different cuisines, very often yielding surprising and exciting results. My impression was that too much of Asia got lost on the way to Sunningdale, in order to accommodate the Western palate.Thank you for your very detailed and constructive feedback. It is always valuable for us to hear how we can perhaps improve dishes, despite it being after the dining event. Sadly, I can't agree that Asia got lost on the way to Sunningdale as we (the owners) are Asian, and have built the fusion menu on a Kenyan-Indo-Fijian heritage! However, perhaps we are catering to accommodate a certain Western palate. Our Fusion Kitchen comes highly reviewed, but it can only get better with close constructive feedback, so thank you for taking the time to do so. I hope that you do decide to return to us where we will do our best to improve your experience.

We are a healthy alternative to the average cafe. All our food is grain-free, hence gluten and wheat-free. It is also dairy-free and we do not use artificial sweeteners or processed sugars in any of our food. We do our best to cater to people with auto-im
I visited the new Roost in Godalming. The old toy shop on Wharf Street has been redecorated into a very nice Cafe, with a great space at the back with long tables that is perfect for a mums and toddlers get-together.An interesting menu full of the ingredients of the new wave of healthy eating (quinoa, beans, buckwheat and matcha, to mention a few) promised much. The execution, sadly, was extremely disappointing.I ordered smashed avocado on sourdough toast with a poached egg for an eye watering £8.What was served (see photo) was mixed in presentation, with thinly sliced radish and baby greens adding flair, whilst streaks of grease took away the appeal. The eating was awful. The sourdough bread used was so old that it had crisped to the consistency of brittle honeycomb on toasting and shattered when cut, and the poached egg was stone cold which took away all the appeal to continue eating after the first bite. There is also far superior coffee to be had elsewhere in Godalming.I was totally underwhelmed by this very expensive new cafe.Thank you for your review. I am so sorry to hear that we disappointed you on this visit. As we only opened 3 weeks ago, we are very happy to receive your feedback and endeavour to do better. I appreciate you taking the time to help us improve. There are a few things we have I feel need to communicate more effectively to our customers from this feedback. First is that we are a fully gluten-free cafe based on healthy, plant-based eating with nutritious sources of protein and fats. In the case of the meal you have had, we use gluten-free sourdough bread sourced from a specialty bakery in London called Rana's. It is a brilliant product that people who cannot consume gluten especially love. But for those who don't need to avoid gluten, this bread is much different than normal sourdough in that the crust is much more crunchy and if over-toasted, a I feel it may have been in this instance, it does go more brittle than normal bread. I have already discussed this with the staff and explained the disappointment you have expressed and the need to do better. The herb-infused extra-virgin olive oil they use to brush the toast looks to have been dribbled a bit on the plate and I have reviewed with the staff taking care to create a good presentation.I do hope that you will give us another try. And please, if you are not happy with your meal, please return it to one of our members of team who will always be more than happy to rectify any concerns and remake any dish you are not fully satisfied with on the spot. We have a wonderful group of people working there and they are only too happy to help you. We love to meet our customers and we strive to build a strong community link between our staff and customers, so please if you do visit again, share any concerns with us.

New owners since Feb 2018. Welcome to our newly decorated pub/restaurant. Entertainment monthly incuding live music and Comedy nights. Home cooked gastro pub food served daily 12-9pm. Quiz every wednesday. Function room/restaurant available for private hi
Lunched here recently.Nice day so decided to eat in garden. Garden was dirty, tissues and rubbish all over floor. Wasn't busy at all, one other table. Filthy overflowing ashtrays too.Beer was awful. Wine was nice.Food was poor. Greasy burgers in soggy rolls. Sandwiches at £8.50 were on Tesco sliced bread, no salad available just a tiny pot of grated carrot and peppers??? Couple of spoons of coleslaw. Very odd. Worst overpriced pub lunch I've had in years. Been here once before, wasn't great then either, has got worse. Pub inside was virtually empty on a Saturday too. Such a wasted opportunity here. Iâm so very sorry you had a bad experience and would of really appreciated it if it was said on the day. A little confused as the garden Is cleared every day, burger buns are toasted and burgers are cooked to order in the oven. Bread is fresh daily from the bakery (Tesco way to far to travel) Unsure about the salad as again itâs delivered fresh daily. We also have 5* rating on our beers..Home made Coleslaw and chips come with our freshly made sandwiches, (coleslaw as a dressing)so we are rather shocked to read this, compared to our other great reviews. We would really appreciate it if you would give us a call and ask to speak to the owner Lisa, or Kay. 01276 472038

My wife and I were celebrating a special occasion with a 7 course tasting menu in The Latymer restaurant at Penny Hill Exclusive Hotel & Spa. What started as a lovely evening with great ambience and brilliant food, ended on a foul note. Just after the 7th course a resident sous chef (tall, slim male with darkish hair - he served us the lobster and introduced the duck course) walks over to a waitress (short with glasses - constantly on the restaurant floor) and throws his middle finger up in my direction while they snigger to each other and then carry on working. I caught this from the corner of my eye and regrettably did not raise this to the manager at the time as I did not wish to ruin the special day. I have literally lost sleep over this appalling, despicable behaviour and vow never to return again nor will I recommend this to my family or friends. Matt Worswick, you need to review your staff.Dear AlwaysHumbleThank you for taking the time to review your experience at The Latymer. Myself and especially all of the team are extremely saddened to read the comments posted regarding your meal with us.We at The Latymer take great pride in offering a wealth of warm and friendly hospitality. The scenario you described is not one indicative of the kind and passionate team that resides at The Latymer and a team of which I am immensely proud of. I would like the opportunity to discuss your experience personally and iron out any misunderstandings that may have occurred,I look forward to hearing from you soon, very best wishesMatt Worswick [email protected]

We visited Stovell's for a wedding anniversary celebration following a recommendation. The whole evening was a joy(!) from being greeted upon arrival, having a drink at the bar, being seated, served and dined. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Service was exemplary! Both the ambiance and environment were lovely and well suited for a wonderful fine-dining experience!Food wise, we ordered a selection of starters (crab and octopus to name but two) from the a la carte menu and were not disappointed. For mains, we opted for the beef wellington (comes with a customised twist!) and the lobster - both were very well presented and full of flavour with wonderful texture. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening/dining experience and would not hesitate in recommending Stovell's to our friends and family. We will definitely be back!
