Come here to re live the traditional pub atmosphere which is gradually becoming a thing of the past with all the new trendy wine bars. Good food and friendly first class service. If you like real ale it is kept very well, the old Speckled Hen was my choice an excellent one at that. Being a Camra member for many years I know a lot about beer. Go and visit this lovely pub and enjoy a hearty meal and a drink maybe a chat to the bar staff or the locals they are very friendly.Thank you for your kind words about my pub we look forward to seeing you again.Mark

Having read some articles in local media we decided to visit whilst waiting on our car to be serviced. What a surprise, truly full marks on all counts. The building itself has been renovated sympathetically with a lot of the features of the church still prominent. It is bright airy & welcoming as are the staff. We had the Scottish breakfast & coffee & it is probably one of the best we have had eating out. The ingredients were all top quality & cooked to perfection all at a very affordable price. What a great place for young people with special needs to learn about hospitality. You could see that their mentors really had a vested interest in teaching them. It is obvious that it is well supported by the community & a lot of surrounding communities could gain from having something similar. We will definitely be back - maybe afternoon tea next time!

Visited Cressfield again. My partner had the steak and I had the lamb special. I can honestly say that the lamb special exceeded all expectations. The flavours complemented and augmented the lamb beautifully. I think this was one if the tastiest lamb dishes I have had. The steak my partner had never fails to impress. These main courses along with the super starters and desserts make The Cressfield Hotel a worthy destination. The accommodation is also lovely and throughout the hotel the staff are welcoming and strive to please. The atmosphere is informal but retains the elegance of the beautiful building. The owner is attentive without being intrusive and engenders similar attributes within his staff. I thoroughly recommend The Cressfield Hotel to anyone who values good food and service.

Pamela Behan and family welcome you to The Kings Arms Pub, situated in Bowness-on-Solway, Cumbria. Located at the western end of Hadrian's Wall, 15 miles along the Solway Coast from Carlisle. This is a cyclist, walkers and Bird-watchers paradise. The King
The King's Arms is a pub that offers traditional British pub fare along with good drinks and beers on tap. The steak and ale pie was delicious. The fish and chips are also recommended. The service can be a little slow as business can pick up quickly, but the staff is friendly. If you are in a hurry, this may not be your best option, but there are few choices of where to eat in Bowness. The food is definitely worth the wait. For those starting their trek along the Hadrian's Wall Path from Bowness, you can purchase a hiking passport here.

Have been here several times, food is always great and prices are good. Waitress always friendly and chatty. Yesterday we had breakfast there but they do lunches too, have had the steak pie before and it is delicious.

Went to the queensberry with a group of friends for Christmas night out, food average, no fresh veg. Husband ordered a bottle of becks lager when he tasted this he thought it tasted a bit "off" on checking the bottle he noticed the Best before date was April 2017 .. Over a year ago! Rest of the group checked there bottles and it was discovered that in total 8 bottles were out of date some of which had already been consumed. Bar staff replaced 3 of the bottles but uninterested in refunding the rest. Obviously appears to be an issue with stock rotation ... Not impressed would avoid this place at all costs, if the beer is out of date then the produce could well be too!

The Corner House Hotel is a well-established, family-run hotel based in the centre of the small Scottish town of Annan. The hotel is a traditional sandstone building with all the modern amenities our guests would require. Located just off the M74, our loc
We popped in here Saturday afternoon for some scones, toasted teacakes, coffees and teas. The food was very nice but at first there was a mix up with who was serving as there was only one girl doing everything but then someone else appeared. Lovely little spot looking down on the high street.

Had heard mixed reviews so decided to try for ourselves, we were all very hungry and looking forward to a meal. When we arrived it wssnt very busy. We sat at a table and waited...and waited. Nobody acknowledged us so we asked for a menu at the bar. There wasnt a huge choice on the menu but we chose and waited...and waited. Decided to order at the bar to be told somebody would come to the table, but again waited and waited. The waitresses kept walking past but never looked our way, so we left. So never got to try the food so cant rate it but service is dismal.
