This magnificent viaduct was erected just over 100 years ago. Once in a while, a local philanthropist has arranged to illuminate it at night. Eerily, the black paint changes to silver! The bridge is exactly one mile (1.62 kilometres) long. It is best observed from below, in Indian Battle Park, where there is ample parking.

Great hike...long or short. There is a one kilometer loop or a 7.5 kilometer loop. Easy hike. The longer one, park across the highway and then cross back over the highway. The parking lot has bathrooms. Watch outfit people on bikes on the trail. They tend to be a little out of control. Good for children. Wear good shoes and take water.

Open May Long weekend to October each year, the streetcar's views of the city and the river are absolutely amazing. This is also the best way to get from the farmer's market to downtown.
We have ridden this street car 3 times. Each time it was a fun event. Saw the beautiful colors in the river valley in the fall. Did a private function when we also did a ride in the early evening. Saw the city lights in early evening. We took out of town visitors for an afternoon ride. Lots of fun. Knowledgeable conductor as well.

....you have crossed this iconic landmark. As you walk south on this very historic Calgary bridge - looking into the Downtown - it literally drops you into Chinatown - a vibrant community with lots of great restaurants!!!

The plus 15 in downtown Calgary excels - park and walk the entire downtown core in the confines of warmth and beyond any outside inclement weather. If you know your way around, it is easy travelling - and they keep expanding the routes. A Great city feature - especially in the winter.

Take a walk down the river valley to the bridge. There is a walking area separate from the road with sitting area to watch down the river below.

This ia a historic stop. You can walk across the suspension bridge to the other side with the remains of coal mines--the beginnings of this place. If you are afraid of heights, don't look down and don't cross when others are crossing as the bridge will sway. This is worth a stop just to take in the history of mining here. Farther down the trail you can also stop at the Atlas Coal Mine for more insight into the mining in this area and see more of the badlands.

Whether you're in kensington or across the bridge, definitely check out the Peace Bridge. It has become this social hub in Calgary, and it's always bustling, plus it is just so beautiful at night or in the day. Also it's right near the Plaza Theatre and other great Calgary staples! I know it kinda looks like a chinese finger puzzle but trust me it's really cool.
