KwaZulu-Natal (/kwɑːˌzuːluː nəˈtɑːl/; also referred to as KZN and known as "the garden province") is a province of South Africa that was created in 1994 when the Zulu bantustan of KwaZulu ("Place of the Zulu" in Zulu) and Natal Province were merged. It is located in the southeast of the country, enjoying a long shoreline beside the Indian Ocean and sharing borders with three other provinces and the countries of Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho. Its capital is Pietermaritzburg and its largest city is Durban. It is the 2nd most populous province in South Africa, with slightly fewer residents than Gauteng.

We looked up this place on the internet and headed out. And what a pleasant surprise it was. Oh, I could spend hours here sitting and sipping on their amazing beers. Very highly recommended.

Established in 2009 (as Porcupine Quill Brewing Company), the brewery forms part of 1000 Hills Chef School where Advanced Students learn the art of Craft Beer Brewing. This brings a unique approach to brewing – with flavour and food in mind. In true craft tradition, we prefer not to follow any particular style too closely but rather experiment with our own styles. Most of our beers follow a pale ale style. This particular style covers a range of flavours and appearances and suits how we brew our beers.
I don’t normally write reviews but this has to be said! We had a chef meet us at our parking and escort us to our table. That’s definitely different but so welcoming. Our orders were taken and arrived quickly. The food was delicious but I have to commend the brewery on supplying one of the best IPA’s I’ve had the pleasure of tasting. They have a great variety to choose from which you can have as a taster before selecting the one that you like. I am an avid craftbeer connoisseur and there’s not many India Pale Ales that have such a delicious forward hoppiness well rounded mouthfeel as this one. The ratios were spot on and the beer deserves more adoration than I can give it. Why are there only 5 stars for a rating??? I’m giving this place a solid 10 out of 10. I will be back and with beer nerds in tow. Thank you Trevor, the chefs and the brewery for a day that could not have been predicted to turn out this brilliant.

The Nottingham Road Brewing company based as part of the Rawdons hotel estate. Free parking outside the brewery we had a look around inside and then were directed over to the pub for the tasting. We actually had a late lunch first at the pub, delicious food(curries chosen) and then we selected our beers from the two options given. A small fee for five very different beers including a delicious porter. Beautiful hot day, tasting beer outside in the garden area of the pub, fabulous experience.

Also look out for our highly acclaimed seasonal brews - a special beer to celebrate each of the four seasons. Our brewery tours (booking essential) take you through the entire beer making process (approx 1 hour). All beers are now served from our new home at The Doghouse Craft Cafe, 500m down the road from the old brewery on the R102 Old South Coast Road.
I had some time on my hands so I went for a taster, and then some beers. They have some good beers, there should be one for you, and the brewmaster is very friendly and entertaining. I loved the atmosphere at the cosy new open air pub

We only do tours for groups that are PRE-BOOKED. Our Pub only opens at 4pm. The Zululand Brewery is a South African beer company founded in 1997 by the Chennells family. Based out of the old shed behind the George Hotel in Eshowe, Zululand where its beers are available on tap at the hotels bar called The Pablo Esco Bar.
