Home to both the midnight sun (with constant daylight from April to July) and the northern lights, North Norway is a rugged land of steep mountains, deep fjords and scenic coastline, making it a great place for outdoor adventures like dog sledding, snowmobiling and wildlife safaris. It's also the ancient home of the Sami people, 3,000 of whom live (along with 100,000 reindeer) at Kautokeino, Norway's largest municipality at over 3,700 square miles.

Bøkestadvannet is a superb recreational area for the entire family. There is a roadfee of 30 -50 NOK to drive in to the lake area, but you can stay as long as you want. The lake has ha beach with a small divingboard, barbeque, and seating. There is also indoor seating and an "out-house" toilet. It is possible to borrow rowing boat and canoe. It´s free overnight parking and camping.

Have been here twice last year during the winter nights and it is a good spot to catch the glimpse of the auroras if you’re lucky. Went back this year again during winter and tried to see how it looks like in the morning twilight and I was really in awe of how beautiful the place is in the day. (Really dark at night hence you can’t really make out the details of the buildings / fjords / surroundings of the beach)

Prestvannet is a scenic area near Tromsø in Norway. Together with the pond and the surrounding wooded area it represents an important natural space, and also a fundamental nesting place for different types of birds. Located a short walk from the center of Tromso on this beautiful lake surrounded by lots of greenery, the locals go for a stroll and relax. Being also a cultural center, it is often full of schoolchildren. I have visited it both in summer and in winter when it is completely frozen. If you are in the area I recommend a visit.
Olav's spring near the ferry quay in vennesund. Legend has it that Olav the holy visited this spring on one of his journeys. The spring is said to have healing powers. Well-marked path leads from Vennesund Campsite, approx. 30 minutes walk
