If you are looking for diversity, you will certainly find it in New Hampshire. From lakes to beaches, waterfalls to woods and mountains to sea coast, the state has huge potential for outdoor vacations, including downhill or cross-country skiing in winter. With no less than seventy-five state parks that offer natural areas, hiking trails, beaches and historic sites, New Hampshire caters for a variety of tastes. Crawford Notch State Park in Harts Location has picturesque waterfalls, wonderful mountain views and opportunities for viewing wildlife. You can go hiking and fishing there as well as pay a visit to the historic Willey House. Monadnock State Park, unlike some other state parks, is open all year round for hiking. Want to go swimming? You will find five state park beaches along the coast of New Hampshire, such as Wallis Sands with its view of the rocky Isles of Shoals. On North Hampton State Beach and Jenness Beach you can have a picnic as well as a swim. When you've finally had your fill of fresh air, head for the Museum of New Hampshire History in Concord with exhibits focusing on heritage and traditions; children should enjoy them just as much as adults.

Kayaking in East Inlet heading towards the Second Connecticut Lake is heaven. Quiet. Birds to see. Moose to watch. And we saw not a soul. Just us.

The Chocorua Lake Conservancy allows access to the public to Chocorua Lake and the Little Lake as well as a 17-acre area known as The Island between Old Route 16 and the lake on the east side and the three-acre area known as The Grove around the Narrows Bridge at the south end of the lake --- all for free --- no admission fee. Most people know the Narrows Bridge from which to get a scenic view of Mount Chocorua across Chocorua Lake. The Grove around the southeastern part of lake offers some hiking. My most-recent visit to Chocorua Lake, Narrows Bridge, and The Grove was while en route to North Conway, Intervale, and Bartlett. When I arrived, there were several other visitors there. Meanwhile, two men from the Chocorua Lake Conservancy were staining a new wooden post fence/railing on the north side of the bridge. I began my visit with taking some photos from Narrows Bridge. Then, I trekked awhile on the trail at The Grove on the shores of Chocorua Lake. When others realized there was a trail there, I had company. This area is a place of unspoiled beauty. I rate Chocorua Lake and its environs at 5.0. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below.

Pine River Pond is a wonderfully clean and scenic 5 mile long/more narrow across lake conveniently located just off Rt 16 in Sanbornville, NH (30 minutes north of Rochester, 5 mins just south of the Ossipee border). There is no public access, so get to know one of the lakefront owners so you can hang here! The Pine River Pond (PRP) Association (pineriverpond.org) is a volunteer organization dedicated to protecting and preserving Pine River Pond, its shorelines, and its environs. And they are doing an amazing job ensuring this treasure is well managed and protected! - Lots of wildlife in the area including: loons! (and their babies in the Spring), deer, beaver, fox, eagles, all sorts of fish, and I have heard reports of the occasional bear! - The water is clear and clean. - Because the lake is private, it is not often crowded with speed boats and jet skis (though they are there and allowed). Given the length of the lake, good for water skiing and tubing. Many folks have party boats or small fishing boats as well. Canoes and kayaks are common. Most boat owners are very courteous and careful. - Many places have beach areas and the cool water is refreshing in the summer! - Fishing requires a NH fishing license. Lots of fish, and many practice catch and release. - Beautiful views from many spots. We overlook the lake from the north west so have a stunning sunrise view. Enjoy!
