We went walking along the trail and the trees were in gorgeous color. When we went around the lake the reflections were breathtaking. Our dog enjoyed the time as well

Lovers Leap State Park

a nice spot to walk in New Milford (I grew up here- now live in Va.) - you have great views of the river gorge below, as well as take your picture on the restored lover's leap bridge, overlooking the spot tradition has it, that the Pootatuck Indian Chief Waramaug’s daughter, Princess Lillinonah, and her lover plunged to their deaths. The Chief himself died in 1735. The bridge was built in 1895 by the Berlin Iron Bridge Company. This was one of the last bridges manufactured by the company out of iron (another in town is Boardman's Bridge (not in good shape)), which had mostly been supplanted by steel as a preferred bridge building material by that time.[2] The bridge was used by both vehicles and pedestrians until 1977, and was closed to vehicular traffic after the crossing just north of the bridge was constructed.
