Coral Bay

A home decidedly away from home for a number of U.S. expats who now reside in this eclectic community.

Peaceful, gorgeous location. aqua bistro for the best food take out we thought. zemi had the coolest most unique jewelery on the island, and the best prices. beaches are just about as close from this side. you do need a vehicle, a jeep most likely. miss lucy's is great for a laid back meal on the water. flyaway charters leaves for private boat snorkel tours out of coral bay and was the best snorkeling we have done anywhere. we hit cruz bay about once a week for a meal, gas and extra food shopping but didn't miss the crowds of tourists at all. if you are coming to party stay in cruz bay. if you want to enjoy the natural splendor of st john and try to enjoy the local culture when you travel, coral bay will give you more of that.

Bioluminescent Mosquito Bay

Reviewed By Vacationer76201 - Napa, United States

I've taken numerous Bio Bay trips over the years and each has been wonderful; this year we went on the clear kayaks and it was the best yet as you can see the fireworks directly below you. Go when there is little moonlight. The moon rises 50 minutes later each day, so viewing is good to excellent starting 3 or 4 days after the full moon up until the last few days before the next full moon. BTW: streetlights on the south side of the island are being replaced w/ red lights to help nesting turtles and also benefits Bio Bay.

Cane Garden Bay

Centrally located on Tortola's north side, this is probably the busiest beach since its beauty is often compared to Magen's Bay on St. Thomas.

Great spot in Tortola beautiful beach we spent two weeks in an Airbnb short walk to the beach. Many restaurants and bars to choose from. It got crowded on the beach when the cruse ships came in but they usually left by three and we had the beach to ourselves. The days there were no ships were beautiful.

Booked thru "KayakingTours" for 65 bucks a person. Guide was late. But... Peter was great. Was just me and a buddy. No one else in the lagoon. The plankton were not very luminescent until the paddles dipped into the water. Flat out magical. I think this was a once in a lifetime tour. Five stars all the way.

I bought the wife a very nice mask and snorkel so she could try it. She did great once she got comfortable breathing. She held my hand and I pulled her along with me. We saw many turtles and I saw a big ray. She also did some searching for sea glass. If you want to find some this is the beach for it. Make sure you buy a beverage from the wonderful older lady in the grey food truck. She is a real sweetie.
