Snorkeling in crystal clear waters! The ecotourism operation at Recanto Ecologico Rio da Prata follows the principles for sustainability. The tour is developed within a RPPN - Private Reserve of Natural Heritage. Elected the Best Tourist Attraction of Brazil in 2008 and 2009 by readers of Brazil's most respected Travel Guide - Guia 4 Rodas, the ranch also received awards for its environmental projects and social responsibility. Main tour: Trail and Snorkeling. After the tour a regional lunch is served. Optional tours: Horseback riding, Birdwatching and Scuba Diving.
This was simply one of the most incredible experiences of my entire life. I have already recommended this to friends and family that plan to visit Brazil in the future. We saw a shy river otter, tons of huge fish, and even floated under a tree filled with monkeys. Not to mention the incredible natural phenomenon where the spring that feeds the river comes up from the riverbed under a sand floor and looks like boiling sand. Check out the BBC Documentary Seven Worlds One Planet to see an HD version of this incredible river. The lunch afterwards was incredibly good, and I highly recommend chatting with the employees. I was taken around the grounds at the visitors center and shown all of the different birds that congregate in the trees on the property. Big red macaws and a few beautiful Toucans among many others.

The world’s largest river is filled with mystery and adventure: churning rapids, giant waterlilies large enough to fit a child, alligator-like caimans, narrow tributaries that stretch for miles through the dense rainforest and an incredible variety of wildlife.
We had never been to Manaus or the Amazon area; we weren't sure how to go about it-- stay in a hotel in Manaus, or stay in a guest house outside Manaus; or do an Amazon Cruise. We ended up doing one of the fancier cruises: The Iberostar Grand Amazon, in July last year. The weather was glorious, with little rain; the food, while repetetive, was certainly edible with some good local fruits and fishes prepared every day. Rooms, while furnishings are old, are super clean and the AC worked well. Staff was all excellent. Some spoke English, and I speak enough Spanish to get by without Portuguese. The week we went, about 80%+ of the passengers were Brazilian, with a small mix of other countries. Side trips are also included-- we loved the piranha fishing, the nature hike, the night boat tour to find crocodiles, and more. We did all of them. What's so great is that, while the base price feels expensive when you're paying ahead of time, since all food and drinks and excursions are included, you don't spend almost anything else when on board. That seems quite unlike most cruises I've heard of. To wake up and sit on your small balcony and sip a coffee at dawn on the Amazon is something I'll never forget.... (all rooms, even the cheapest lower deck (first floor) room that we had) have this balcony. And the pool is awesome at the end of a busy day of side trips! The "trip" is actually just a voyage up for 1-2 days and then back to Manaus. Totally recommended once Covid is under control.

Lake Guaiba receives the water of Jacui River, Cai River, Sinos River and Gravatai River.
Is the city charm, the Guaiba lake is the life of Porto Alegre City that transform Porto Alegre the singular place at south of Brasil. The sunset is the best :)

Unusual meeting of the Amazon and Solimoes rivers
"Fun & fulfilling" is just how I would describe this tour on the Rio Negro River (with also compliments to its "well-organized" nature) from its starting point near the Manaus Port Terminal right at about 9 am followed by about an hour of some nice views along the waterfront (including those of the port machinery, what maybe some "colorful favelas" of Manaus & the "long bridge" over the Rio Negro) to the first stop at the "fairly wide" confluence area of the black-watered Rio Negro & the brown-watered Amazon (for a "quite sufficient" time allowance of about 10 minutes to see), then a short 5-to-10-minute ride to the second stop at some "floating structure" with some mini-ponds full of "quite sizeable" fish where yes the interesting thing some people did was to buy small fish available for sale and feed them to those big fish (for about half an hour with also some souvenir shops to browse), then about a half-hour ride to the third stop for a buffet lunch with some small "nature walk" along the raised boardwalk nearby just before lunch (for a little over an hour in total and where there were also some big tables with souvenirs for sale although I found the costs "quite a bit" more for similar items compared to Adolpho Lisboa Market back at the Manaus waterfront), then the ride for the "longest stretch" of about 1.5 hours to the fourth stop for a swim with "pink dolphins" which were just 5-minute sessions in small groups of like 5 or 6 people but yes which for me was the "most fulfilling" part of this tour being just "amazingly up close" with 3 or 4 of them in that precious allotted time (for about an hour at the stop where yes it was also great to enjoy seeing other groups do the same after my group), then a short ride of 5 to 10 minutes to the fifth & the last stop at an Indian village for a dance show in their "big house" followed by some time afterward to walk around their "village-like" area at the back or as for some people a chance to go into the water some more (for about an hour at the stop where just the 20-minute dance show was sufficient for me and I was just a bit wary of that water where there were also trees & such!), then finally the ride of about an hour back to the city (where actually some people also got off near the "pretty crowded" Ponta Negra Beach along the way which I'm not sure is a good spot to catch the sunset), and arriving back at the Port terminal (right where we had started in the morning) at about 5 pm after the duration of about exactly 8 hours. I booked my tour at my place Hostel Manaus for about 180 reais (an equivalent of about 55 US dollars) which I would say was a "reasonable deal" including the all-you-can-eat lunch (as mentioned above) & the hotel transportation both ways, especially in comparison of that price to another one I'd got earlier from another tour agent elsewhere (so yes might be a good idea to shop around a little).

We had excellent tour to Paraty from Rio. Our tour guide/driver was Newton from C2Rio. The scenery on the drive is beautiful and Newton’s descriptions of the places and history were excellent. This is a great way to see the historical city of Paraty and area around Rio. This is a full day trip. Allow 5 hours travel each way and 4-5 hours in Paraty or stay in one of many available hotels.
