I did not go this time as it is too expensive. I have been many times in the past and enjoyed it. But the road is long and very rough. The accommodation is good and surroundings beautiful. But it's far too expensive now. The price has been increasing and now it's just too much and moot worth it. A shame......

Room is clean and small, shower works well, and I slept remarkable good (with earplugs), staff friendly, breakfast meager. Close to not too interesting bars. Too many church songs. Road is noisy. Good for sleeping

The hotel offers absolute pampering comfort with a Swimming Pool, Conference facilities, Private dining room, a Gym, Sauna, Massage, Private rooms, a garden among other facilities. A completely new Night Club (Club Oval) has been put up. The hotel is bringing to Bungoma County unparalleled Catering and dining services that will see the introduction of Vegetarian & Indian Cuisine with a completely separate Kitchen for the purpose. It is also introducing Halal cooking for the Muslim Customers whose Kitchen is also separate.
While i was at dinner the staff came into the room and helped themselves to $100 from my wallet. When i told my Kenyan colleague about it they said sonething similar happend the last time they stayed there

Food is great but room service is poor, cold water and showers that are not functioning well. You are asked to open water to run for some time at times it does not heat up hence cold showers which is horrible

Fabulous home! Perfect for a family get away and Team building activities. Serene environment, excellent for a weekend getaway with family or friends. Manicured lawns and a children’s play ground makes it a great choice for the young ones.

We stayed here for a night while on a business trip. The outside of the hotel looks a bit sketchy, as it's located slightly behind a petrol station on a busy highway. Inside though, we felt safe and comfortable for the most part. The room was a decent size. My bed was comfortable and had a mosquito net. It was pretty noisy because of our proximity to the highway. The bathroom could have been cleaner, but it was fine. I had issues with my hot water in the shower. Breakfast was good- fruit, coffee, cereal, eggs, and sausage. They did group dinners for us, which were quite nice! We appreciated the special arrangement. The first night we had cabbage, chicken, and chapati- very typical and delicious! The second night was even better- spiced meatballs, mashed potatoes, and fish. The bar serves beer. The tab with them has to be closed separately from the rest of the hotel tab. The hotel elevator was broken throughout our stay. The wifi worked well in the restaurant and lobby, but not so well in the rooms. They do NOT accept credit cards. If you have to be in Bumala, this is a safe and relatively comfortable place to stay.

Book this guest house at your own risk. They are conmen. I had travelled for business in Kakamega. I called and made reservations(i also had a booking.com reservation) but when i reached they changed stories and said that the receptionist i had talked to the PREVIOUS NIGHT was not working there anymore and my booking was invalid. They don't pick your calls despite having numerous numbers online. some numbers belong to some individuals who pick up and say they have never even heard of this guest house. Beware!!!!!

The service offered is average, Kakamega has comparatively few places to spent a night with family and found the place to be OK , the average price for accommodation is not value for money. The rooms have been recently renovated and can do well for short stay. The staff are generally friendly and the location is also very quiet and serene
