The village cluster of Ubud is the ideal place to try a famed Balinese massage and soak up the ambiance of one of Asia’s top spa destinations. Acupressure, reflexology, stretching and aromatherapy star in the island's distinctively firm massage treatments. Ubud is also the vivacious center of Bali’s arts scene, home to a small treasure trove of museums and galleries. Monkey around at nearby nature reserve Monkey Forest Park, home to hundreds of mischievous long-tailed macaques. Don’t miss the valley of tomb cloisters at Gunung Kawi.

The Honeymoon Guesthouses are just five-minutes from the heart of Ubud and Casa Luna Restaurant. Our elegant Balinese style guest rooms have spacious terraces, are set in lush tropical gardens and each property has a salt-water pool. Breakfast includes freshly made muesli, homemade yoghurt, baked pastries from The Honeymoon Bakery and rice dishes. For those who want to rest, you can laze by the pool and order in delicious meals from the extensive menu of the Casa Luna Restaurant or have a massage by our trained staff.
I stayed for 3 nights at the guesthouse at the end of May, and was staying at the Indra suite AC at Honeymoon 2 (there are 2 clusters of rooms). It was on the ground floor and very close to the pool. For the price it was a very worthwhile stay. The room is big and clean. The double bed is comfortable and cosy. Unfortunately there isn’t a window on the ground floor, so I have to keep my door open in the day for better light. If possible, request or book a second floor room if you don’t mind the stairs. The hotel grounds is spacious, quiet and lovely. It’s a nice oasis from the Ubud street. There is a yoga hall and also a small lawn if you’d like some outdoor yoga. The morning breakfast is really good and sumptuous. The location is quite convenient, just a ten walk to Campuhan Ridge Walk in the early morning. There are 2 minimarts nearby for you to pick up your essentials and some cafes, and massage parlours. Getting to other areas of Ubud is convenient via grab rides (motorcycles)… or just a short walk away. The staff is amazing, so attentive and always making sure that I had everything I need. I always think it’s good to try other places to stay but I will seriously consider returning here again!

Lovely place. We really enjoyed our stay here, it is as peaceful as the name claims, the views are beautiful, the pool picture perfect and breakfast so generous and well cooked. All the staff was friendly and helpful. This place fits perfectly in the Ubud spirit, highly recommended.

our home stay is a family business,it is located close from the centre of ubud, about 5minutes walking distance. it is a very nice and quite home stay.it also has a very comfortable environment, being situatsd in a traditional balinese stule house.
I felt like being a little bit part of the lovely family. Putra provides an excellent breakfast: scrambled eggs with fresh fruit. Everyday something else. The room has a great view on the pool. Staff speaks English very well and is very helpful. I stayed for two months and could count on Putra, the owner, for taking me everywhere. He knows the best places and restaurants in Bali. I stayed here for the third time and I am already planning to go back.

My Partner and I stayed in this lovely accommodation for two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Unfortunately they were booked out to extend another night. The staff was super friendly and so accommodating. The room was really spacious and had everything you need. A few stains on the linen but that was not a biggie for us as you can smell it was clean. They even done a turn over every evening and closed also the curtains. We can highly recommend the place and would love to come back. PS. Massage was also great! Thank you Jati team for having us.

This is the nicest place we stayed during our trip. Staff were so friendly and helpful, if we were out all day and forgot to order breakfast they would WhatsApp asking for my order. The rooms were very clean and all beds were very spacious (there were three of us in one room). Breakfast was served to the table on our terrace bang on time and was always delicious. As we were on the ground floor our room was five from the pool, however it still felt private due to the high plants Super close the centre, clean, friendly staff and 10/10 service!!!! Would always recommend.

Located in the countryside, 9 km north of Ubud, Hati Padi Cottages lies in the heart of the ricefields, a perfect setting to pull back from the busy city life and enjoy a calm and natural surrounding. The property is composed of three antique Javanese teak houses, three double rooms, a charming Balinese house, a large open restaurant and a vegetable garden. All buildings have been designed in an eco-friendly fashion and blend with the landscape. All rooms have a private terrace.
I am really sorry to write this review but I really think it is such a low-blow what happened today and so unprofessional. I found my experience in this establishment so horrible (despite of the fact that it is precious and the environment in the amazing ricefields is really really wonderful). The way I have been treated from check-in, no warm welcome and of course no welcome drink (as said on the booking), not a big deal for me but they couldn't even give me water even if I could see the Nazava filter with enough water inside! I did not get the Joglo I booked (and already paid for), I got the standard room instead and last but not least I couldnt get the password for the wifi so no access to the internet (and i need internet).!!! I was stupid enough to believe the charming woman at the reception telling me the wifi does not work as actually it did work as two signals (HATI PADI and HATI PADI 2) could be seen by my gojek when i left! I felt really miserable and so disappointed cause I am really used to be warmly welcomed with good customers service, particularly in these difficult times when we all try to support each other. I think that if they dont want to have guests, they shouldnt put the big promotion in Agoda and lie to the guests to make them leave. No cancellation possible of course, so the guests feel stuck... I have to say that it is a smart and easy move but.... Personally, I dont think that is the right way to make business flourishing. That was a one in a life experience but not in a good way!!!!

The short version - Excellent location for the price. It’s not perfect but the issues are minor and I would definitely stay again for the views over the rice terrace and the large rooms. The long version I booked through booking.com (free cancellation) and I contacted the hotel through them a few times to ask about room reservations and transfers. They replied within a few days and quoted RP450,000 for the transfer, which I know is about RP100,000 more than standard so I organised my own transfer via the recommended drivers on the Trip Advisor Bali forum. I recommend looking up the hotel on Google Street View as there’s so many places on Monkey Forest Rd and the entrance is quite small, it’s easy to go past it. It’s just past Yulia Village Inn on the right-hand side going north on Monkey Forest Rd, and it’s got a Danamon ATM out the front. Staff The staff are unfailingly polite and cheery but they’re not numerous and not overly professional. Don’t get me wrong – they keep the rooms and pools very clean, provide pool towels and the front desk is open 24 hours, but that’s about all you get. The three or four room cleaning ninjas were very quick but started hanging around outside the rooms at about 7am waiting to clean them, and they made a bit of noise chatting and laughing. The front desk staff are helpful when you ask but if you don’t, they’re usually just laying around chatting or sleeping. Breakfast is pretty basic, but it’s fine enough if you’re on a budget as it’s included. If you’re not, there are lots of local options particularly Watercress and Three Monkeys which are both literally a minute away and have great food. Wifi is rubbish and really needs to be improved – it comes and goes and isn’t really all that strong when it’s on. I had to use my roaming quite a lot. Location The location is outstanding; it’s right in the middle of Ubud with shops and restaurants immediately outside so no need for shuttles or taxis to get anywhere. Considering the location, it’s pretty quiet - a bit of live music noise from some bars but I’m a light sleeper and I was fine most nights without earplugs although I did need them one night when there was a ceremony. Layout of the hotel It’s on a narrow but very long block reaching back from MF Rd. It appears to have started life as a small budget hotel and has gradually extended back through and across between the rice fields, running along the gully between MF Rd and Jalan Hanoman (no access to JL Hanoman). The cheaper rooms at the front are hemmed in a bit by the properties to either side but as the hotel opens up out the back, it feels much more spacious and all the rooms have some kind of view, not common in the middle of Ubud. There’s a sweet old guy who looks after the ducks that live in the paddies and it’s lovely to see them waddle around during the day (the ducks, not the guy). Unusually there are two pools and neither one was too crowded when we were there. There’s one up near the budget rooms which overlooks the rice paddies and gets a lot of sun (although the water isn’t too warm), with about 7 sun lounges. The second, larger pool is the boomerang-shaped one in the photos which is right at the back of the property down next to the gully. It’s a bit of a walk from the front and has lots of steps down to it but it’s great when you get there. There are about 10 sun beds and it has an infinity edge. It overlooks the gully which is a bit grotty with rubbish and plastic bags that get washed down when it rains, but when you’re in the pool, you can’t see that. There are heaps of different room configurations in this hotel. I chose to book suites as they sounded like they would be larger and perhaps more upmarket than the other rooms but when we were there, I asked what the difference was between them and the super deluxe there was quite a price difference (it was the same price for 4 nights in a suite as it was for 7 nights in a super deluxe). The staff couldn’t tell me so for our second stay, I cancelled the suite and rebooked as a super deluxe and we got the same style room. Perhaps I was upgraded but I think they are a bit interchangeable so I’d tend to book a super deluxe next time and hope for the best. The budget rooms up the front (up to #16) face into nicely kept gardens but have no views although 13-16 overlook the top pool. They all have large windows on one side so they probably have good light. Then there’s a string of larger rooms set in lots of 4 overlooking a rice paddy (17-24) which are a bit bigger and seem less budget. Then there’s another series of buildings that go off at right angles, along the edge of the drop off to the gully so they are two stories on one side (ground floor and upstairs) and three on the other (lower ground, ground floor and upstairs). These divided into 2 sets of two rooms (one up, one down - 25&26 and 39&40) and 3 sets of 4 (2 up, 2 down – all the rest up to 44). These rooms are all larger rooms and the top two stories have views over the ricefields on one side and back verandahs that look over the gully on the other side. Two of them (25 and 26) seem to be the deluxe rooms where you have to go outside to go to the bathroom (as reported in other reviews) but I think that they’re the only ones like that. The suites are rooms 35-38 (suite in Bali seems to mean just ‘larger room’, not separate bedroom). They were large but I checked out the super deluxe rooms and they all seemed to be similar sizes. The family rooms are upstairs in this series of rooms too (rooms 29 and 30) and they are split level so they’d be the biggest rooms. All of the rooms in the back set of buildings except 39 and 40 have a full length front verandah overlooking the rice paddies to the west, and a smaller verandah at the back overlooking the gully and the back pool (the other bit at the back is where the bathroom is). 39 and 40 have full length verandahs on both sides and I’ll be booking upstairs 40 for my next stay if I can. Then there’s two or three lower ground floor rooms set into the hill underneath the buildings (perhaps 31-32?) – their fronts overlook the gully with the back side of the room up against the hill, and they look a little smaller than the rooms above them. Then there’s a couple of standalone rooms that overlook the pool (33-34?) - they look big but lack a bit of privacy because everyone in the pool can see in unless the curtains are drawn. There’s also a stand-alone pagoda outside room 36 overlooking the rice paddies, which was good to meet up with people in and when we were there, a woman used it for yoga and meditation in the mornings. Our rooms We stayed twice, once in 35 (ground floor double suite) and 38 (upstairs twin suite). The ground level room lacked a bit of privacy - the path for other guests went across the front and the maintenance guys hung around outside in the mornings which was a bit noisy. It did work well however as we were there with another couple and we could easily nip next door to talk to them when we wanted. The upstairs room was much better for privacy but wouldn’t work so well if you were there with friends. The view from the upper room Both rooms were large with plenty of room to spread out two suitcases and hand luggages. They were bright, smelt nice and were very clean. The double had a four poster king bed (with four pillows) and the twin had two queen beds so still fine for a couple. Unusually for Bali there was quite a few power outlets. There was a cupboard with lots of space and narrow desk with stool, and a couple of chairs and a small table out on both patios (a lounge on the upstairs one). The curtains were heavy and kept a lot of light out in the mornings but I would have like a sheer set as well for privacy when we were in the downstairs room. We got about 4 bottles of water a day in the fridge, which was a medium sized bar fridge. One fridge had a mild Darth Vader wheeze but otherwise they were very quiet. Aircon was quiet as well, no rattling in the middle of the night, although it struggled a bit to keep the upstairs room cool in the middle of the day with the high ceiling. There was a bit of neighbour noise, the upper room more than the lower. Both our neighbours were pretty good and didn’t party all night but if you had someone next to you who was really noisy, this could be a bit intrusive. Rooms 25, 26, 39 and 40 would be your best bet as they don’t have neighbours. The largish bathroom had a shower over the bath and a single sink, and was very clean with no mould. The design was functional but not overly professionally finished. The shower wasn’t great – it was a handheld shower head set in the head-height shower stand so it sprayed everywhere and water went all over the floor. Water pressure was pretty poor (although I managed to wash my hair and rinse the shampoo out successfully). The hot water took ages to come through but it was fine when it did. We got a large towel and a small towel each daily. Would I stay again? Yes, definitely at one of the rooms at the back of the property. The location and views are great. Comparison There are a number of other hotels I considered in Ubud and I checked out a few while I was there. I’ve done a post on the Bali forum if you’re interested – search for Ubud Hotel Comparisons.

Up a little side street and hidden away is this gem of a place to stay. Our host was very accommodating upon our arrival and breakfast served to us on our balcony every morning was a great touch. Comfortable king size bed, mosquito netting around and good air con. Walk in shower was powerful and reasonable storage. Decent WiFi. Some large steps for the rooms next to the pool so those that can’t manage them I’d suggest not booking those rooms. An excellent stay, very close to a multitude of places to eat and drink and easy to find in the dark!
