The east situated town of Trincomalee has so much in store and so much to offer to the avid tourist - from unspoilt beaches to stunning remains that bear evidence to being a colony ruled by the Portuguese in the 17th century. Right here amidst all this diversity, Anantamaa Hotel is ideally located for a pleasurable stay while you visit Trincomalee. A resort hotel that features 28 comfortable rooms.
I actually think 3 stars is a bit generous, 2.5 might be more accurate. I feel a bit bad, covid and now this economic crisis is really hurting the tourism industry. It seems as if little to no upkeep/updating have been done on the rooms and hotel. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: -Nice grounds -Pool -Close to beach (down a 50 meter private pathway. Cons: - Dated room (bathroom especially, although clean stains on sheets and towels. - No daily room make up, I injured about this and the presumably manager (guy in white shirt behind front desk) told me I had to request it. I said it wasn't a big deal to me but I asked if I could have another small bottle of water for my room (2 small bottles in the room on check in). He said no and that I have to go buy one from a store. I asked to then have my room made up the next day. It wasn't. any of my 3 nights there. - pool is nice but the nice wooden lounge chairs that are in the pictures are now white plastic old stained ones. - The small pools that the chairs are on in the picture have no chairs and the pools them self are filled with green dirty water. - They have a generator for power cuts but will only run it if the power cut happens when it's dark out. (Power cuts are 2 x 2 hours per day right now) not a big deal right now but if the cuts were longer it may be.. - It looks like they started building a new building on the property by the pool and construction stopped. The grounds in that part are overgrown and the unfinished building is a bit of an eyesore. Overall I'm not so sure this hotel is worth 45 us per night. I saw much nicer hotels in the area. I'd say the hotel would be worth it if the customer service was better. Some of the front desk girls are nice but it seems as if the manager in the white shirt stopped trying some time ago.

Our new resort is situated in Trincomalee overlooking the Indian Ocean. Each villa has two rooms with A/C, hot water, cable TV, etc. The location itself a nature's paradise with colourful birds, especially peacocks, strolling around. Turquoise coast and unspoilt beach will make a wonderful beach holiday.
The establishment is located in the small village of Sampaltheevu, in a small islet of greenery and coconut trees. The place is calm and restful. All the staff are welcoming, attentive, dedicated and professional. There are only 4 bungalows, each with 2 bedrooms. All rooms have a private terrace with a view and direct access to the ocean. The rooms are humbly furnished. The volumes are generous. They are equipped with air conditioning. The bedroom, bathroom, linens and towels are spotlessly clean. The bathrooms are equipped with walk-in showers. Room N ° 2 : Twin Room. It has a wardrobe, 2 pieces of luggage, a bedside table, a make-up area or a desk with a large mirror. The bedding is comfortable. The property has a restaurant. The dining room is bright. The menu is simple with local or western options. The chef easily adapts to vegetarian menus. Breakfast and meals are very generous. Breakfast can be continental or local. Meals must be ordered in advance. Which can be a constraint and an advantage. It is a pledge of "homemade and freshness". In addition, with this principle, the chef can adapt to personal requests to give you maximum satisfaction. The value for money is excellent in view of the service and the services offered

6:54am woken by screaming kids and music by the pool. Who not only is so ignorant to let their kids run, shout and scream at that time of day but also adds music and what sort of hotel allows that? The sort that on another day starts work with angle grinders and hammers at 7:25am. The manager is also a liar. On the third day of our stay he said 'the internet is switched off and there is nothing I can do'. He told me this while laughing. This was after wasting my time finding passwords then giving us a router etc., over the previous days knowing there was never going to be any wifi. The restaurant seems to serve either chicken curry with barely any spice or chicken curry with ridiculous sauce that leaves you gagging. The rooms are only cleaned if you ask. The cleaner did not even change the sheet. The sheet does not fit the bed in that it just lays on top and does not go under the mattress. It was very uncomfortable. The towels changed also only on request. The hotel general staff do not speak English at all. The location is good being next to the beach however we had to find someone to unlock the gate to allows us to get on there. The beach would be beautiful if the local people did not treat it as a rubbish dump and toilet. There is an open sewer pipe 40 metres from the hotel that discharges on to the beach. It does not even make it to the sea. The fridge in our room was short circuiting when we arrived meaning we got a shock from it. I told the manager and it took half a day to get it replaced. There was no hot water at all during our stay. I can see no reason at all to spend any money or wasting any of your life by staying here.

We had booked two nights at this new, very nice property. We ultimately could not stay because recent heavy rains and flooding had damaged the small road to the cabanas, as well as adjacent properties. We could not reach the property with our van, and did not wish to drag our bags the distance from the main road. The still flooded and visibly destructed neighbouring properties appeared to be breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Despite mosquito nets on the beds, we were concerned (we were staying with our two, youngish kids). We did get a chance to see the cabanas which where very nice and smartly constructed, and had a very pleasant chat with the owner, who was understanding about our concerns. It is close to the beach, several decent restaurants are located nearby, and there has clearly been a lot of attention to detail and thoughtfulness to how the grounds are set up and maintained. We would recommend the property to anyone, despite our situational issues, once the road in is repaired (which is scheduled soon). Very kind ownership.

A wonderful place to stay, lovely room, great a/c, fan and shower, short stroll to the beach, nearby restaurants.. quiet at the hotel though. Breakfast is excellent, perfectly served, nothing too much trouble. For only the second time in my weeks in Sri Lanka I met fellow animal lovers, these people care, take in dumped puppies and kittens feed and love them. Go stay there, support them..

We have nice luxury rooms and also very famous Trincomalee Beach Front Hotel. 24 hour free Internet wifi, local & international channel TV, fridge facilities inside the rooms and also just 1 km to Koneswaram Temple.
Firstly if you are looking for luxury this isn't for you. That should be clear from the price. It is a bit basic but it is clean, comfortable, friendly and right on the beach. I thought it filled a very good niche market between budget accommodation and more up market places. My family really enjoyed it. The only draw back was lack food and drink but their is a very good restaurant virtually next door and a small shop which sells cold drinks just across the street. I would use it again.

Here at Bluewater Beach Resort we can offer many activities for you to enjoy. Relax around in the hotel or even take a dive into our exquisite swimming pool. You can also enjoy the sunset from your personal balcony and I can guarantee that you will have a great stay.
The place is not so clean with stains on the bedsheet, and black spots around electric outlets. The facilities are visibly old. The staff is rude to us and not welcoming/understanding at all. They are very inflexible. At the check-out, they declined even to let us keep our luggages for a few more hours (which won't change anything for them but could save us from walking around with the luggages). We were also forbidden from the common area once checked out at 10am. In their own word, "now you checked out, the rule is that you have to leave the entire hotel area". We had to eventually leave and find another hotel where we can keep our luggage and stay until we leave Trinco. In a word, we didn't feel respected or taken care of at all by the hotel. This is very different from what we experienced in other hotels/guesthouses in Sri Lanka.

The room was very clean, the quality of the bed was good, the airconditioning worked perfectly, the breakfast as well as the dinner were also of very good quality. The place is located directly at the beach and is very peaceful and quiet but at the same time only a short walk away from the bars and restaurants. The central location is also perfect for (TukTuk) visits to Nilaveli beach and Trincomalee city. The people were kind and helpful. We stayed there for 2 nights, but could have gone for one extra!
