The former Yugoslav republic of Slovenia, which gained its independence in 1991, is slightly smaller than New Jersey. With one toe dipped in the Adriatic and several major rivers and lakes, water sports are popular. To the east, the Alps provide excellent hiking and skiing. Nestled below its castle, the capital of Llubjana is a vibrant, youthful city with a thrilling arts scene, a flotilla of festivals and impressive architecture that runs the stylistic gamut from Renaissance to Art Nouveau.

Hiking on Juliana trail we have tried several places. Some good hotels, but less good restaurants. Hotel Boka has both and taking price in consideration, it is very good. We had a great dinner, very friendly and professional host. Tasty local food, cooked with understanding how it should be. Great location, just by the river. Thank you.

You can relax in our idyllic spa, set underneath the canopy of trees and above the murmuring stream. So many things to see and experience! This is simply paradise for nature lovers and beauty seekers.
The receptionist and staff are full of life and gave a very warm welcome. The hotel itself feels hidden in nature and the natural pool makes what is a fantastically located property feel like it's an isolated oasis. We stayed in the riverfront tents and were delighted by the sounds of the river flowing at night. Grab a bike and go for a quick ride down to the lake.

Me and my partner had the best trip staying at this place. Not only were the beds comfy, the rooms fitted with air-con and a mini fridge, the staff here were the best! So helpful with everything from what restaurants to eat at, to what to do in rainy days. Couldn’t of asked for better help from someone who knows the area well. 10/10 rating, recommend to anyone who enjoys comforting, homely hotel rooms!

This unexpected gem is perfectly located on the river. Nice modern room in a very old building with creaky floors. Ana welcomed us and shared her story which let her from Brazil via love to Ljubljiana. All amazing photo art is made by her.

The Vila Prešeren boutique hotel lies under the castle cliffs right on the shore of Lake Bled. Traditional 19th century Bled villa offers two boutique suites and six contemporary rooms, suitable for those visitors of Bled who wish to stay in a modern guesthouse right in the heart of the town, may their trip be for business or for pleasure. The ground floor of Vila Prešeren houses a trendy café and restaurant, which delights guests with a rich selection of fragrant coffees, mouth-watering desserts, selected dishes and top-quality wines. In nice weather, these treats are served on the sunny terrace overlooking the lake.
I am from Slovenia and I took out my German friends for dinner to Villa Prešeren, expecting the highest level of service and a great experience! 10 minutes before our reservation, we were "greeted" by a waiter, who told us that the table is just not ready yet as he still has 10 minutes; "you see, it's 18:50, so just wait cause I still have 10 minutes. Not my fault." We were ok with the wait, no problem, but this is just not the way you do things and not the way a waiter behaves in better restaurants (where they charge you 17eur for a plate of primo piatto-sized pasta with tartufata (not real truffles)). Secondly, Vila Prešeren is supposed to be on a higher level, placed in a historical building in a historical place. But sadly they put together a menu, which contains Serbian street food dishes as well. This just does not go in a place like that, where typical Slovenian (also exquisite) dishes should be their main focus. What a poor decision! It drags down the level of service and the overall experience for a couple of notches. As to the Gorenjska region hospitality during the main season, I didn't feel that either. Semi-rudeness all around. Not worth your money.
