Each of San Francisco's unique neighborhoods has its own collective personality shaped by its residents, topography and history. This diversity is one of the great hallmarks of the city, as well as its tradition for rebellion, and both make traversing San Francisco as a visitor an intriguing adventure that provides fresh discoveries for locals as well. While half of the city’s growth during the 19th century was due to the arrival of American immigrants, the balance was due to immigration from around the world. Today, the city's neighborhoods reflect this fact with their cosmopolitan flair and distinctive character.

Would love to stay here again! The room was beautiful, great staff, and good views! We had breakfast outside and it was lovely! I wish we could’ve joined for the wine and cheese but we had other plans. It was a great place to stay for our wedding!

Perfect location to enjoy the city, the neighborhood is great with some of the best restaurants and bars nearby, it's close to public transportation and also convenient to walk around. The hotel was very clean, including all the common areas and bathrooms, which was very important! The room was big and comfortable, there was a sink which was very convenient, and more space than I needed. The self check in process was very easy and fast with an app, I had all the information I needed to find my room easily. Definitely is great affordable option!

The Grove Inn, family owned and operated since 1983, is opening it's doors after extensive renovations. All of the rooms have been freshly updated and tastefully decorated. Originally built as a Gold Rush boarding house in the 1800's, the Italianate Victorian style inn is located in San Francisco's historic Alamo Square district. The Grove Inn is located in a picturesque part of the city, one block from the famous "Painted Ladies" Victorian houses, and centrally located in San Francisco.
I can’t say enough positive things about the Grove Inn. It was clean, convenient and the staff was excellent. Aziza and Nelson were so helpful! The daily snack basket came in very handy too. Excellent stay! Will definitely stay here again if we visit San Francisco!

Beware of this hotel, my girlfriend and I accidentally booked a single room instead of a double room through hostelworld.com and the hotel let us know that when we arrived. Since there was no way we were going to stay in a twin bed, we wanted to upgrade to a double room. We were charged an extra $15 for that "upgrade" but after we were charged Jay, the manager, said that the $15 was just for allowing another person to stay in our single room, not for a different room. They were out of double rooms entirely. If we had known this, we would have cancelled the reservation and gone somewhere else with a bigger bed. Even moments after he had just ran our card, he refused to give us a refund. So we paid for three days in a single twin bed at this hotel and had an extremely uncomfortable night the first night, and then booked somewhere else for the other nights because the bed was just too small for two people. The decent thing to do would have been to cancel our charge because we never wanted to stay in a twin in the first place, but Jay took advantage of us and charged us for the twin anyway. We talked to multiple employees at the hotel and none of them were able to help us. Really disrespectful and I would have thought they would have the human decency to refund us after we clearly did not want that room and they knew that. Stay away from this hotel.

This is a beautiful Victorian home decorated as such. Due to covid, services were pretty much halted but the room was cute and cozy. We booked the 1 br with a sleeper sofa and this was lots of space for 2. I think it would be a bit cramped if we were 4. We enjoyed our stay however I was REALLY dissapointed not to have a mini fridge or coffee maker. Since we stayed 5 days and the city is SOOOOO expensive, it would have been nice to be able to keep a few staple food items in the room. I made the mistake of shopping on the way to the hotel from the airport and then needed to throw away a lot of food. When I called the front desk to ask, they just said, "sorry your unit doesn't have that". Otherwise, staff was friendly and we enjoyed our stay. Per the discription of this location, the bedroom windows are directly over a busy street. It was VERY noisy at night which did not really bother us as we are both pretty sound sleepers. If you have issues sleeping this might not be the spot for you. This location is about 2 blocks from the bus, uphill, but not bad. It's also just a few blocks to the BART. This is mostly downhill but into a less that desirable neighborhood. We took a lyft for $7. We took some sort of transportation to just about everything as there is not a lot walkable. There is a street of restaurants and cafes about a block and half away.

We stayed at Pacific Heights Inn, but we got no sleep. At dark, gang members in noisy cars convened in the parking "court", proceeded to shout and curse. The manager in the office became agitated when we complained about the noise. Within an hour, the manager himself was the one who was yelling! He was raging at another guest who had complained. The manager turned his anger on my husband when we complained after a sleepless night. We wore flip flops in the shower because it was just that disgusting. The hotel wasn't going to give us our second night's money back in spite of the fact that we had endured gang activity, feeling we needed to hid below window ledges for safety and for being berated by the loose cannon of a manager. We finally got our second night's refund back, but the night of fear that we spent at this place was absolutely not worth any amount of money. Your wife and daughter aren't safe here. Your sons aren't either. Just don't go here. Spend a few more bucks, my friend, and stay in a safer place.
