Myself and friend stayed over on 18th May for a night after a seriously good days walking. Arrived early to say that we’ll be back to check in later and to see if it’s ok to leave our cars in the park, no problem whatsoever. Was instantly made to feel welcome. Returned later in the day tired and hungry and was welcomed by possibly the best customer service I’ve ever received from a young lady (brown hair and glasses, sorry I didn’t get your name). You instantly engaged in conversation which made us smile and brought us 2 very well poured, very nice pints. After chucking our bags in our room we went down for dinner and the service was superb! Very attentive and made sure that everything was ok and more drinks were brought to our table quickly. She was simply brilliant. You are an absolute asset to the Burley Inn and if you ever end up in Cornwall and you need a job, give us a shout! Oh! The food was delicious too. And thanks again to the same person we’d been chatting to for recommending the chocolate and salted caramel pudding with ice cream. The service throughout was 100%. Breakfast was perfect too and the room were really comfy and had a great nights sleep. Definitely stay here again. Well done to all!

We loved our stay here, we had two nights and at night it was lovely and quiet. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed, the beds were lovely and comfortable. Also had a big Panasonic TV with apps like youtube which was better then what most hotels have. The highlight was "Dolly" the meet and greet staff member ( Cat, see photo`s ) who led us to our place and saw that we were comfortable. She also came to say goodbye when we left. One of the most beautiful cats I have ever met. Also if you do stay here, please be careful driving in and out because she waits in the car park area. Thank you Dolly and everyone else at Petherton Cottage.

Arrived for lunch on a sunny day to be told no food was being served outside. I completely understand that pubs are finding it really hard to recruit and staffing is a big issue but unfortunately the disappointment didn't end there. I had the ultimate cheese toastie - more like the ultimate rip-off. Didn't seem very cheesey and when I opened it there was a tiny smattering of cheese. A ridiculous price for a couple of slices of bread and a teaspoon of cheese with a couple of minute gherkins as a garnish. My 8 Yr old son had a children's meal that was so small it was only really suitable for under 5 yrs. A lovely looking pub that is just so below expectations. A real shame.

We (a group of 5 couples, all in our 40s/50s) went into the Star after having a fantastic meal at the Indian Tree adjacent to the star. I was first in, I waited at the lower bar for 2-3 minutes before the landlord finally appeared, only to be told they we need to go through to the inner bar in order to get served. This was certainly not obvious, as all the beer taps were alight and appeared to be ‘live’. Once at the other bar, my order was taken, he almost seemed concerned that There were 10 in our group and he didn’t recognise me or most of the group. We finally got the drinks, to the tune of about £45. 20 min later, most of the gents in the group had finished and required a top-up, which was granted to the tune of £25 (so at this point, we’d already spent £70 in less than 1/2 hour, and it looked like that were only another 3 or 4 punters in the bar. Another 15 min passed by before the first couple left. Myself and my wife to be (marrying next week after 2 false starts due to pandemic ) followed outside, but found that Our taxi was delayed, so we went back into the bar. A good friend of mine then tried to Get the Landlord’s attention to get my fiancée a glass of wine whilst we waited. The landlord however, was fully engrossed in a conversation with a friend of his by The bar flap thingy - whatever you call it. My friend called Out to him 5 times in the end, clearly agitated without getting an ounce of acknowledgment, despite being 2-3 metres away and clearly within earshot. I was behind him and astonished that such blatant ignorance was taking place right in front of my eyes. He eventually, reluctantly attempted to serve him/us, by which point we’d just about had enough. He was the only person serving behind the only bar, but he clearly thought That chinwagging to a friend was his forte in life, rather than doing his chosen profession as a pub landlord. I soon had a One-way discussion with him, which he continually tried to interject. My friend, and then his fiancée also did the same, all of our party was shocked by this intolerable behaviour. He eventually tried to make amends but by then, we’d decided that we’d rather spend the rest of our time together elsewhere. We have since found out that the Star inn is almost as a cliquey pub as you can get- if you’re not one of the landlord’s inner circle, then don’t expect to get treated with any respect. He also endorses a swear box and bans mobile phone use. Whilst I don’t totally object to the latter, it’s hardly acceptable in this decade, especially for those drinkers who might frequent the bar. To summarise- I cannot for the life of me figure out how this supposed landlord can make a living in this decade. I’ve been going into bars all over the Uk for about 36 years, and this guy is the rudest and most unwelcoming landlord I’ve come across, who would’ve been dragged across his beloved bar and truly been battered if he tried to make his living as a landlord in a Military Garrison town like I’ve experienced in most of my life. If you want to enjoy a drink in a bar in our town of Ringwood, there are other places. Please try them before you bother lining this guy’s pocket anymore.

Thank you Kayren and Dave for such a wonderful family stay away. We stayed in the family room with our two children and couldn’t have been happier with everything about our accommodation. Firstly, in such difficult times, we were so happy to be able to get away on holiday and were so impressed with the Covid19 safety precautions that had been put into place which ensured everyone felt safe. The room was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and furnished and perfectly sized for our family. We had a fridge in the hallway specifically for our room which had fresh milk provided for tea and coffee and filtered water in glass bottles. Breakfast was amazing and such good quality- we have such a comprehensive list of choices which we could choose from the night before. The service was so attentive and friendly. Our hosts had fantastic local knowledge and really helped us with knowing about what we were going to do each day. We were so impressed with our stay that before we had even left we had asked about rebooking for the summer. Thank you for a lovely break away and we hope to see you again next year! ?

Boutique Bed and Breakfast on the edge of the New Forest and the beaches of Dorset
We spent 2 nights at the Moortown and we were extremely comfortable and very well looked after. Our room was big and stylishly decorated with a luxurious en-suite. Breakfast was indeed superb and the hosts even went so far as to provide my husband with the black pudding sausages he craved. We will certainly be back.

I stayed at the Dunnroaming guest house for a few nights as lone female. Although he was very helpful, I found the chap who runs it was completely inappropriate with the comments & remarks that he made to me. He commented on who I had been with, what I had been doing and what I was wearing. He also mentioned my financial status. I have travelled the world by myself & never had someone made me feel this uncomfortable. I'm sure had I been with a male friend it probably wouldn't have happened. The place was nice with a good breakfast, but it says something when you don't want to walk into breakfast for fear of getting looked up & down, & then a comment made because I'd not gone for breakfast the previous day. I definitely would not return.
