The Southend Hotel in Maroubra offers the perfect 3.5 star (AAA Rated) accommodation base for exploring the wonderful Eastern Beaches of Sydney. We are like a friendly, first rate country motel and pub - only ours is just 20 minutes from both the centre of Sydney City and the airport! The Sands Hotel Motel consists of 15 rooms, all with free WIFI, ensuite, balcony, reverse-cycle air-conditioning, fridge, kettle, toaster, free tea and coffee, flat screen digital TV's (with over 20 channels to choose from) and daily servicing. Our Deluxe rooms are larger and are positioned to the quieter rear of the building, away from the street. Some Deluxe rooms are available with inter-connecting doors; ideal for large families (please call to check availability). All our rooms are on the first floor (up a short flight of stairs), with the Bistro, bar, function room and bottleshop on the ground floor. We are a friendly, family-run pub in the South Maroubra Shopping Village. We are community minded, and committed to providing a fun, safe and family friendly venue with great value meals from our Bistro, and well-maintained facilities in our motel and bar.
We stayed at the Southend because of the price offered and the location. It's very close to Maroubra Beach and Malabar National Park. There's a Woolies and fast food outlets adjacent to the hotel and it was only a few minutes from the airport. On arrival, the reception was friendly and we found our room, while older than the glass towers at the airport, was clean, quiet and well appointed. Dinner downstairs was delicious and well priced with plenty of options. There were a very large number of young families present. They were very well catered for and there was a large play area for children at the far end of the pub. Bar staff were helpful and friendly. The only concerning thing for less mobile travellers is the one set of stairs leading up to the rooms. We were pleasantly surprised by what we found at the Southend. It's friendly, clean and affordable. In our opinion, it is a much better place to stay than places adjacent to the airport. We look forward to our next stay.

We had a wonderful experience at the Avonmore. After landing at 8AM in Australia, we planned to just drop off our bags but since our room was available, they gave us the key. We had a cute kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave and tea kettle, Delicious restaurants nearby, UNSW a 10 minute walk, and Coogee Beach an easy 15 minute stroll. George, the super helpful manager, even stored our larger luggage for 5 days when we jetted off to Cairns.

Have been going to Randwick children hospital couple times a year for 6 years and this is the first time we discovered this lovely little place. Only 5 mins walk to hospital, surrounded by restaurants and light rail at door step. For a mother with disability child this is fantastic so we don’t have to travel too long. Room is clean and house keeper come and clean every day we were out. Easy check in and out policy. Fantastic price too. Would definitely go back

This Superior Queen room was advertised as luxury with views over Randwick or the courtyard. My view was the shared laundry and a shed, and the room didn’t look like the picture in the ad that had a view and natural light. But my room was indeed light filled by a blazing fluoro light in the laundry shed that kept me awake most of the night and a humming sound that also continued through the night. That experience cost over $300. The lodge has had a reno since I stayed there last. It has fresh paint and attractive decor now. But I felt ripped off.

I made a last minute booking at Perouse Randwick. Their website was easy to use and I was able to do an advanced check-in from home. On-site check-in was a breeze and I had a lovely queen room on the 2nd floor. The room was clean and tidy and well appointed. It was small but as I was only there to change and then sleep, it was more than adequate for my needs. The bed was super comfy and I had a great night's sleep. Would happily stay there again or recommend to other.

I stayed at The Alison in a premium queen room with en-suite last Friday night. I booked direct as there was a free late checkout available for direct bookings which was confirmed at checkin. Prior to my arrival I received a series of confused emails from the hotel and my credit card was debited for the full amount before I checked in. This is not a budget hotel at $260 per night! Be aware that their website is misleading as it says the room includes & sleeps 3 but they charged me an additional $26 to squeeze a trundle into the room. The room was small & basic (tiny en-suite with nowhere to put anything) but the bed was comfortable which was the only reason I gave it 2 stars and not one. I was in room 102. It is located near the front door and beside the stairs and the walls are paper thin. At 3am I was woken by the front door slamming and the sound of people using the staircase & hallway. The noise continued constantly until 4.15 and then again at 5.15. This was not muffled noise! This was loud & clear! To make matters even worse, housekeeping staff had not bothered to check whether I had a late check out and thumped & yelled on my door continually from 10.20am until I opened it and told them my checkout was at 12. Checkout was unceremonious without even a “how was your stay”. On the afternoon of my departure I sent an email to The Alison about the overcharging and poor communication. It is now a week later and I have had no response. Pathetic.

We only stayed for a night as we were attending U2 concert. Randwick is our favourite spot in Sydney, with easy access to buses, hospital, shops and more. Randwick spot just 2min walk from the lodge have great restaurants too. You can walk to Coogee beach- probably around 30min. The lodge is clean, modern and comfortable. Staff was extremely friednly and accommodating. We were lucky to find car spot just at the front of the lodge. Bathroom was tiny, but in my opinion it wasn't't a problem. Highly recommended. Would stay there again.

Coogee Prime Lodge is a great place to stay. Cheap, cheerful, but very clean. The rooms are basic, but very comfortable- so close to everything- highly recommended! We would be very happy to return in the future. Bed was also very comfy! Underground free parking was a major bonus. Thank you Coogee Prime Lodge ?.

The Blenheim Randwick is a modern and sophisticated boutique style accommodation in the heart of Randwick. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms, flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi and private balcony. There is an on-site kitchen and laundry for guests to use, perfect for long and short term stays. Lift and stair access. The property is across the road from the Sydney Children's Hospital, and close to the Prince of Wales Hospital and the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Bed was ok and balcony was nice and sunny. Surprisingly quiet given the location, however our room faced onto Blenheim St and some face High St. Check in was difficult as I followed the instructions for on line check in but still had to provide all the info again at the desk. There was no hot water during my stay and it was getting fixed but took a few hours and still wasn't hot. Bathroom light is very annoying since it's on a timer and turns off very quickly.
