We spent less than 24 hours at this place, it was okay, bed uncomfortable, no amenities ie we were told due to Covid no breakfast in bed and breakfast. Interesting there were open tins of ? Chocolate powder not sure how that factors re Covid. Like I indicated it was a place to sleep nothing more. Quiet. It was hot no AC but a fan would help. Linens need upgrading. We felt right at home from the minute we arrived. It’s idyllic. One of those places you want to keep a secret so it’s always available to you. ;) the rooms, beds, outdoor terrace - clean, comfortable and so inviting. I love that they hang dry the linens right there - hard to beat that fresh feel and scent. Francesca and her family were wonderful hosts. Her dad is happy to show you around his garden, fruit orchard and trout pond. We dined on site, had beverages under the gazebo and around the pool, and also took a pasta cooking lesson in the outdoor kitchen. Everything was fabulous and fun. There’s a mostly-pedestrian paved road out the back gate that takes you right up into Orvieto. It’s a climb, but it got us ready for the Amalfi Coast! And Francesca offers rides in her minivan for a minimal fee to/from the train station or the historic center. So convenient. I will be back with another small group in August. Truly looking forward to it!

La Soffitta was one of our favorite places to stay on a three-week-long trip to northern Italy and Sicily. Orvieto was beautiful, and La Soffitta reflected that beauty and was rich in atmosphere. Ideal location, on a main square, but not noisy, with a picturesque market twice a week. The owner, Beatrice, couldn't have been more kind -- she seemed to really enjoy talking with her guests. The room had character and was comfortable. We stayed for two nights and would have happily added a third.

Istituto Ss. Salvatore

Over-priced for nothing!

Reviewed By CVKRome

We go to Orvieto all the time and usually stay in a few different B&Bs or hotels. Since everything was fully booked, we decided to try the Istituto SS Salvatore because of its very central location and medieval structure. We knew in advance that the rooms in the Istituto, run by nuns, would be very basic though functional, which was okay. But what we got for what we paid was a bit surprising. As soon as we checked in, we were given the bill, which came to 99 euro! Our room fee of 84 euro was high for the type of accommodation, but around the medium price for Orvieto, and it was the rate we chose on Booking.com. What we weren't expecting was the 10 euro fee for our dog (don't understand how it's justified since the floors were marble) and the 5 euro fee for parking in the hotel's private parking lot. I had checked the website for the Istituto SS Salvatore prior to making my booking and it said that parking was free. The website also said that breakfast was included in the price. There was no breakfast offered when we went on 7 August 2020, the excuse being that it was due to COVID restrictions. I think the Istituto has now modified their website to reflect this. We have stayed in several hotels in Italy since July and all of them have served breakfast, though in different COVID-friendly formats. If the Istituto did not want to serve breakfast they should have either lowered the price or given guests vouchers to use at a nearby bar, as other hotels do. Our other complaint was that there was no airconditioning in our room so we had to sleep with the windows open. This would have been fine temperature wise, but the 1st floor room faced onto a noisy morning market in a main piazza. For what we paid, we could have stayed in a much nicer hotel/B&B where we could have had a good nights' sleep and breakfast!

I've booked 4 nights at B&B Podere Pescara, 2 months before our arrival to Italy, this was for my wife and myself, everything looked promising, a romantic vacation, in a pastoral area next to Orvieto. This was a part of a longer trip in Italy. When we arrived to the place they told us that the room we've booked was not available anymore, and since they have no available rooms, they moved us to a different hotel not far on the highway, when we got to the other hotel we have realised the disaster, it was noisy, not clean and the size of the room was less than 10sqm about 110 feet! the size of the room was so small that I kept most of my things in the car! it was hard to believe. From reading other reviews I can see that this is not a one-time event, but a systematic pattern of action. My wife always says that you can not win all the time, and I tend to agree with her, but unfortunately this was intentional. Do yourself a favor and look for another place.

Don't even THINK about booking this place! We turned up with our girls in 36 degree heat - no one at apartment! We called 3 numbers but no answer! After one hour, a woman appeared but no apology!!!!! She led us upstairs. The place STANK of stale smoke. Yuk! As we entered the apartment, we were SO excited to see the terrace. You can imagine our shock when we asked where it was. She said that it 'was broken...' outside the terrace wax full if broken slates, tools, ladders etc but NO ACCESS. She said it was being sorted. We were utterly speechless and almost in tears. We left without a second thought and sat outside on the pavement as the woman walked away and slammed door shut! All in, a HORRENDOUS experience! If you want to enjoy your trip to beautiful Orvieto, avoid this place at all costs. You will be sorely disappointed!
