A fantastic very well presented little hotel. We had 3 people stay in 2 rooms, both rooms were immaculately presented and the price was excellent. Wifi was great, we even had a router in our room. We had 3 motorbikes with us and they were so accommodating witb parking them out of sight. Most of all the staff were super friendly and helpful. Katya was so accommodating and answered many questions we had. She was so friendly and always smiling. We really enjoyed our stay at the Helen Hotel, thank you :-)

For you - comfortable rooms, a spacious hotel area with various seating areas, a beautiful sea nearby and colorful landscapes of the sea spit. Troyanda is located five minutes from the sea and 40 minutes from Ochakov. This is ideal if you want to spend time away from city noise, enjoy a comfortable rest and just get a beautiful tan.

Good hotel, fair price. The bathroom is private. Staff is friendly. Everything is clean. For this price, the best one around here. I stayed here just for one night due to business, however I would stay more if I need to.

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Astoria offers accommodations in Nikolayev. The hotel has a sauna and fitness center, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. You will find a 24-hour front desk and shops at the property. You can play pool at the hotel. We speak your language!
Booked two suits for two nights. This suit (just a large room) is large and clean BUT sewer goes up to the bathroom floor and the smell becomes unbearable. We had to leave a window open (we’re talking about January, with temps around zero). The staff were aware of it, but had no intention of solving the problem. They said they couldn’t move us to another room because they were full. The staff is nice and try hard to make you comfortable, but when your room smells the way it does and the water keeps coming up... We were on a tight schedule and were too busy, so we stayed. Avoid it if you can....

This is a large modern hotel right on the beach with attractive Scandinavian style layout and modern airy rooms. The area is quiet and nicely wooded. Suitable for families or for a quiet getaway, the hotel is nicely secure and close to the local village with its shops and amenities. The hotel is located approximately an hour’s drive from Odessa, though, at the time of writing the road is poor quality.

Three luxurious floors, individually decorated bedrooms and suites, each of which is a sanctuary with luxurious fabrics, original works of art and indulgent bathrooms. 8 bedrooms are decorated in accordance with the size. All rooms include free breakfast, free WIFI.
Its an ok hotel - which is great for this part of the world. Very quirky decor and a lot isn't quite right but is deemed acceptable by the hotel e.g. ligh switches way below the bed headboard that you have to wedge your hand down to try and turn on/off. Breakfast fine and staff nice.

Hotel Admiral Greig offers apartments in the center of Nikolaev!
During a stay in Odessa, I decided to go on a two day trip to Mykolaiv/Nikolaev to get away from the big city a little. While Mykolaiv is still a big city with half a million inhabitants, it is very different from Odessa. The regular minibus service from Odessa passes not far from the hotel, and as long as you can communicate with the driver in Russian, it is possible to get off instead of having to ride to the bus station, which is 3 km away. The hotel itself is small and unassuming, nestled discreetly along one of the main boulevards and is part of an entertainment complex known as Shtorm. In addition to the hotel there is a restaurant, bar, bowling hall, underground disco and adult bar. The hotel is small and houses only 6 rooms. All are different and are inspired and decorated in a maritime theme (Mykolaiv used to be a big shipbuilding city as well as an important port during Soviet times). Room categories vary from slightly simpler than standard (Skipper Cabin) to regular rooms (Lead Seaman, Helmsman and Boatswain cabins), and a Jr Suite (Captain Cabin) and Suite (Admiral Cabin). Prices vary from 700 to 1600 UAH per night as of 2018, but here is the big surprise: if you do not stay a full day, you pay for 12 hours (I stayed from 18 till 10 and paid 800 UAH for my Captain Cabin). This was a little confusing for me, but I will not complain - it is a bargain. The Suite had an entry hall with a real bar area, even wine glasses hanging upside down from a roof rack, a living room with sofa and old style box TV, a bedroom with another TV and a very nicely refurbished and roomy bathroom. On the walls were pictures and even models of ships, and all manners of maritime paraphernalia were around. Somebody made a lot of effort to stick to the theme here, and I thought it was very fun :) The room also had a safety deposit box (with a code lock, not a key like my hotel in Odessa had), a fridge/minibar and two A/C units with remote control that worked well. There is very little in the way of windows, as the room is on the ground floor - there was a narrow, high window which I was unable to close, but it was fine and not noisy in the night - and the outside was covered by some metal walls. There is 24H reception and breakfast is included (I presume it is served in the next door restaurant), although I did not try it. The lady in the reception was very helpful and showed me two rooms before I chose to become Captain, but she did not speak (or preferred not to) any English - so learning some basic Russian, including the alphabet, will come very much in handy here. While there is not a lot to see in the city, options are the shipbuilding area and museum, the zoo, the area where the two big rivers Inhul and Pivdennyi Buh meet, and the pedestrian area of Soborna street. After my dinner in the next door restaurant, I only had time to go to Soborna, which was around 1,2 km away, and it was a pleasant place to walk several times up and down. Just outside the hotel is also the monument 'United Europe', in the middle of the boulevard running north-south (Sadova). I was so pleased with the hotel that I wanted to stay an extra day, but when I saw the weather forecast saying 34 for the day after, I decided to go back to "only" 30 C in Odessa. 32 C was enough for visiting the zoo. I was very pleased with my stay in this hotel - it was above my expectations for such a small place, and if my travels take me back to Mykolaiv some day, I will consider it as well as Korall (my two best options location wise, but Korall never answered my attempts at reaching them). The low price is what pushes it into 5 stars for me.
